Annie Austen: "No seriously, I don't want kids."

In this Episode, I sit down and chat with Annie Austen, Senior Recruiter by day: Lifestyle Blogger of 'The Austen Adventures' by night.  On a topic that can sometimes seem to create the same anxiety as discussing politics, we talk about our choice to Not have kids and the puzzled 'I don't understand' faces we get when we say "Oh, no I don't want children." (insert GASP!)  We answer a lot of great listener questions about our reasons why, what our families think, are we afraid we'll change our minds, will we regret it, and how to not lose your sh*t when someone tries to force a human baby on you and says "You'll change your mind. It's different when it's yours".  Annie shares her thoughts on how she believes having kids isn't necessarily the only way you can find fulfillment in your life and how she handles the kickback from those who may not agree.  Grab a drink, kick your feet up....let's chat! * SUBSCRIBE NOW to know when new Episodes hit! * Love 'The Swerve Effect' ?  Help grow the show's listeners by leaving a rating and/or review on iTunes or your favorite listening platform! * Visit www.theswerveeffect.com to find out where you can follow/contact guests via Social Media/websites & for all 'Episode Recaps' where I share the guests tips, tricks and resources they shared on the show. * Find & Follow the show on Instagram (@theswerveeffect) or Facebook (The Swerve Effect)  Music cred: Humanité (Instrumental Version) by THBD | https://soundcloud.com/thbdsultan  Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License License: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en_US

Jenny Martin: "How an Eating Disorder, Heartbreak & the 9-5p led her to become a Poetry author"

In this Episode I sat and chatted with Miss Jenny Martin.  You may have heard her on 90.1 KKFI or seen her around Kansas City doing book readings to promote her new poetry book, Emotionally Bankrupt…a book in response to resignation, addiction, heartbreak and growth shared in the light of poetry.   It’s here where Jenny was vulnerable & brave enough to primarily talk about the addiction chapter of the book, where we get to learn about Jenny’s story, and that’s her story about living with and through her eating disorder and how she found self love again!  ….plus she worked on a cruise ship, how fun is that?! Megh Knappenberger: "The Story Behind the Painting"

In this Episode, I sat down and chatted with the Midwestern rooted Megh Knappenberger.   She once owned her own Design company, but after having her baby & experiencing a serious injury, things shifted.  Having returned to work after her accident, she realized she wasn't happy there and needed to Swerve.  That's when she made the decision to become a full-time Painter!  Since then, she's worked hard to recover and is now a well known Kansas City fine art painter who's been featured in The Kansas City Star, ESPN Kansas City, The University Daily Kansan and seen on KC Live TV.  She became the first and only artist to be licensed by the KU Jayhawks and has even collaborated with the American Heart Association by painting a Wonder Woman piece that consisted of 33 carats of loose diamonds!  What other crazy items has she used in her paintings?  But, it didn't happen in a day and it took resilience.  Listen now to hear her story on what all led to her Swerve, how she landed her biggest sales & where she's at today! *SUBSCRIBE NOW to know when new Episodes hit! * Episode Recaps: www.theswerveeffect.com (to find tips & resources the guest mentioned, along with how to find & contact them) * Instagram: @theswerveeffect * Facebook:  TheSwerveEffect Music cred: Humanité (Instrumental Version) by THBD | https://soundcloud.com/thbdsultan  Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License License: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.en_US

Kristen Rock Chouinard: "Pushed into a New Life Purpose"

In this episode I sat to chat with Kristen Rock Chouinard.  She's as real as it gets.  Kristen is a Kansas City based SELF TAUGHT abstract artist. She runs a successful art business where she sells to both individuals and businesses, and you may have also seen her on the Better KC Morning Show on KCTV.  However, she's not always been an artist and actually had to intention of becoming one.   We talk about how life sometimes makes decisions to for you to push you to a new life purpose that better suits you in that phase of your life.  Kristen actually started off in Marketing, where she spent 10 years working 80 hour a week, and after putting her blood sweat and tears into it, she was fired one day.  Rude, right? Using painting as a form of healing through that tough time, she realized she felt physically, emotionally and mentally better and ultimately decided to stick with it.  And look at her now!  Kirsten takes us through ending what she's known for 10 years and starting new again....
