Good Girl Complex Series Recap (What We Learned & Real Life Takeaways)

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2542453/fan_mail/new] If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing all the “right” things and still feel anxious, guilty, or not quite lovable, this recap is for you. We sit down at the Table of Grace to wrap up our Good Girl Complex series and name what’s really happening underneath the pressure to perform: shame, people pleasing, comparison, control, and the belief that rest has to be earned. We walk back through the stories that shaped the series, from Eve’s hiding and God’s gentle questions, to Sarah’s grasp for control when waiting feels unbearable, to Hagar’s wilderness where the God who sees calls her by name. We also talk Leah and Rachel and the way comparison turns life into a moving finish line, plus the Samaritan woman who is fully known by Jesus and still invited into purpose. Along the way, we share what listeners told us hit home most, and what we’re still learning in real time. Then we slow down with two moments that cut straight to the heart: the bleeding woman who risks everything for one touch of Jesus, and Mary and Martha, where we confront the lie that “good girls can’t rest.”  Our biggest takeaway stays simple and challenging: the way out of striving is not trying harder, it’s sitting at the feet of Jesus and trusting Him to be who He says He is. If this series mashed your toes in the best way, share it with a friend, subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, and leave a review to help more women find a seat at the table. Good Girl Complex Part 7 (From Striving to Sitting With Jesus)

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2542453/fan_mail/new] You can be exhausted without ever leaving the couch. That’s the kind of striving we’re talking about today, the hidden inner unrest that keeps so many of us moving, fixing, hosting, over-functioning, and still feeling far from peace.  We start with real “table talk” about end-of-school-year burnout, the pressure to perform, and how technology turns service into a nonstop stream of work, notifications, and mental load.  Then we open Scripture and trace Mary and Martha across Luke 10, John 11, and John 12. We look at what Jesus actually says to Martha when she’s anxious and distracted, and why Mary’s posture at His feet is more than a sweet image.  We connect it to the good girl complex and the lie that says, “The more I do, the more valuable I am,” and we bring in a therapy lens with attachment language: anxious striving to earn love versus secure rest that receives love as a gift.  John 11 takes it deeper. Jesus delays, Lazarus dies, and both sisters say, “If you had been here…” and still, Jesus stays present. He weeps. He doesn’t rush past grief just because He can fix the problem, and that reshapes how we understand healing, disappointment, and what it means to be held by God in hard feelings. We also talk about what it looks like to invite Jesus into everyday moments when a perfect quiet time isn’t possible, and how to choose the main thing again.  If this conversation hits home, share it with a friend who’s tired, subscribe so you don’t miss the recap, and leave a review so more women can find a seat at the table. Good Girl Complex Part 6 (When You Have Nothing Left But Faith)

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2542453/fan_mail/new] She had spent everything. She had tried everything. Then she did the one thing no “good girl” would do: she pushed through the crowd, reached low, and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. We sit down with Tessah and Courtney to walk through the bleeding woman’s story in Mark 5:25–34, Luke 8:43–48, and Matthew 9:20–22, pulling out the details that change how you read it. We talk about what it meant to be ceremonially unclean, cut off from worship and community, and why her healing is bigger than a physical miracle. When Jesus stops and calls her “Daughter,” we see a Savior who restores identity, reputation, and belonging without a hint of disgust or distance. From there, we connect the passage to the Good Girl Complex and the quiet ways women learn to cope: hiding pain, trying to fix ourselves first, and making Jesus our last resort because surrender feels like losing control.  We ask the hard questions: Are you crawling to Him, or managing your life around Him? What are you willing to risk to bring your real need into the light? If this conversation gives you hope, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find a seat at the table. Good Girl Complex Part 5 (The Woman At The Well)

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2542453/fan_mail/new] She shows up at the well when no one else would be there, carrying more than a water jar, carrying shame, isolation, and a story she would rather keep quiet. Then Jesus does the unthinkable: he goes straight through Samaria, sits down, and starts a conversation with the very person the culture would have overlooked. John 4 is not just a famous Bible passage; it is a spotlight on the heart of God and a mirror for anyone trapped in the good girl complex.  We talk through the Samaritan woman’s encounter with Jesus, the tension between Jews and Samaritans, and why it mattered that a Jewish rabbi spoke to a woman alone in public. We also wrestle with the assumptions people make about her past and ask a harder question: what if she wasn’t the problem, but the one everyone blamed? We trace how Jesus names what is true without shaming, and how being fully known becomes the beginning of real healing.  If you have ever felt like you have to look perfect to be accepted, or you have hidden parts of your story because Christians can be judgmental, this conversation is for you. We keep coming back to one simple invitation: you do not have to clean up first. Put the bucket down, lift your eyes, and let Jesus meet you right where you are.  Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a review telling us what part of this story you cannot stop thinking about. Good Girl Complex Part 4 (The Lie That Her Life Is Better Than Yours)

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2542453/fan_mail/new] Comparison doesn’t just steal your joy. It can quietly replace God on the throne of your heart. We sit down for some honest table talk about what God is doing in our lives, what conviction feels like, and why obedience can make you look a little weird. Then we open Genesis and walk through the messy, human story of Leah and Rachel. Two sisters set up to compete, one husband treated like a measuring stick, and two different insecurities chasing the same false promise: “If I get what she has, I’ll finally be okay.” Along the way, we connect their rivalry to modern Christian life and the good girl complex: the pressure to prove you’re worthy, the habit of justifying comparison, and the temptation to make a spouse, kids, or approval carry God-sized needs.  We also talk about the practical way out: choosing connection over competition, getting honest in community, and learning to recognise the Holy Spirit’s nudges through conviction, wise counsel, and confirmed direction. We end with a bigger lens: Leah and Rachel’s legacy stretches all the way into the story of Israel and the lineage of Jesus, reminding us that God’s plans for us are often larger than what we can see in the middle of a struggle.  If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find a seat at the table.
