Welcome to The Top 5 Records Podcast Episode 8 with the man the myth the legend Charlie Dark. Charlie Dark is a good friend of mine and a one time business partner when we founded FUN DMC together.    Charlie has led an extremely interesting professional life and we delve into some of that here. Having started as a DJ he was singed to the Mo Wax label as part of group Attica Blues before going on to sign a major label deal with Sony that did not work out at planned. Disillusioned with the music biz he threw himself into self care and off the back started Run Dem Crew a running community which now meets weekly and has tons of members ranging from casual runners to those who run marathons around the globe.    It is this ability of bringing people together than I think is Charlie’s real strength. He is a vocal supporter of those around him always pushing them to achieve through all manor of initiatives including his latest project Run Dem Radio which will be taking to the airwaves in the upcoming weeks.Check out the Spotify playlist for his selection here https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0rp8LGqeKDYKWMW6s8RyW0?si=Fx90t1kSQyWGt0Yxk4JmNA [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0rp8LGqeKDYKWMW6s8RyW0?si=Fx90t1kSQyWGt0Yxk4JmNA] And if you wanted to buy and the of the records discussed you can head to these links here.   Run Dmc - Sucker MC’s (1983) Profile Recordshttps://www.discogs.com/Run-DMC-Its-Like-That/master/63297 [https://www.discogs.com/Run-DMC-Its-Like-That/master/63297]Nas Illmatic - 1994 Columbiahttps://www.discogs.com/search/?q=illmatic&type=release [https://www.discogs.com/search/?q=illmatic&type=release]Anthony Red Rose - Tempo (1985) Firehousehttps://www.discogs.com/Anthony-Red-Rose-Tempo/master/134730 [https://www.discogs.com/Anthony-Red-Rose-Tempo/master/134730]Lonnie Liston Smith - Expansions 1975 on RCA / Flying Dutchmanhttps://www.discogs.com/Lonnie-Liston-Smith-The-Cosmic-Echoes-Expansions/master/90939 [https://www.discogs.com/Lonnie-Liston-Smith-The-Cosmic-Echoes-Expansions/master/90939]Attica Blues - Blueprint 1995 Mo Waxhttps://www.discogs.com/Attica-Blues-Attica-Blues/master/69413 [https://www.discogs.com/Attica-Blues-Attica-Blues/master/69413]
