When we look around at the world today, it’s easy to see conflict, hate, and judgment. But what does God call us to in the midst of this vast ocean of confusion? Ephesians 4:1 is a call from God through Paul that we are to walk worthy of our vocation. We see the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, a reminder of the spirit that we are called to have. Paul reminds us again in Ephesians 6 about the whole armor of God and its role in our daily walk. The culmination of these commands drives us to understand that a Christian is supposed to be in the world, not of it. We are to be ready to fight the spiritual fight and yet always able to give an answer. Using the analogy of a boat, it is only effective if the water on which it sails remains outside of the boat… The boat should be in the water, but the water should not be in the boat. Finally, we are to proclaim Christ, not only in our words, but also in our actions. I was once asked this question: If tomorrow we woke up without the ability to speak, would anyone still know we are Christians? Or do people only know we are Christians because we tell them? This is the Vocation: How are we exemplifying Christ in our actions? How we perform in our everyday mission field is, in some cases, the strongest witness a lost and dying world will ever see.The prevailing theme of this podcast can be summed up in one statement: Every day is a missions opportunity, let us not fall short of our vocation.
