Sustained peace—Jehovah Shalom, wholeness amid conflict, shown in Gideon’s altar (Judges 6:24)  5. Jesus the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:1–6) Ps Ryan teaches from John 14:1–6 where Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” emphasizing that this is not merely doctrine but Jesus Himself as the fulfillment of Jewish categories: halakha (the way), emet (truth), and chayim (life). Ps. Ryan contrasts modern Christianity’s split between faith and daily life with a lived, relational walk with Christ, urging believers to stay close to the Shepherd rather than chase religious systems, rules, or special moments. He explains “progressive revelation,” arguing Scripture is God-breathed through imperfect people and that God’s revelation moves toward its perfect expression in Jesus, using examples like slavery and treatment of women. I am the Good Shepherd Pastor Ryan teaches that God provides fully, but believers must choose to desire Him (“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,” Psalm 23:1). Using the “valley of the shadow of death” imagery, he says the shepherd doesn’t reroute the sheep; the daily habit of walking with the shepherd prepares them to pass through darkness with God’s presence (Psalm 23:4). I Am the Good Shepherd: Psalm 23 and John 10. Ps. Ryan continues the “Names of God” series by connecting Exodus 3:14 (“I AM”) with Jesus’ declaration in John 10:11-16 that He is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep, bringing both Israel and Gentiles into one flock. Using Psalm 23:1-4, it explains that “The Lord (Yahweh) is my shepherd” is God’s promise to provide, while “I shall not want” is the believer’s response to desire God above His gifts, rejecting a “vending machine” faith. Ps. Ryan emphasizes worship and commitment rather than church-hopping, and teaches that the Shepherd makes sheep rest, leads them to green pastures and still waters, and restores “cast” sheep through patient, protective care.
