Zinc Coffee Break Episode 9

It’s a special episode of the Zinc Coffee Break podcast this week as Taralouise talks to her stepmum Lynne McSherry - salon owner and hairdressing educator Lynne has a background of 34 years of hairdressing and has passion to share her knowledge to the new era of hairdressers which is then why she decided to become an educator and has been doing this for 21 years. Lynne has had her salon Opulence in New Brighton for 11 years. Lynne is a Prospect for The Lions Barber Collective. The Lions Barber Collective is an international collection of top barbers and hairdressers which have come together to help raise awareness for the prevention of suicide. We hold training courses for hair, barber and beauty professionals. Through our training we aim to ensure they have knowledge and skills of how to spot the signs of clients suffering with mental health and be the support for that person. We educate professionals on not how to be counsellors but with the aid of the four pillars of Barbertalk Recognise, Ask, Listen and Help, we can bridge the gap between the communities we serve and the resources available while providing a safe non-judgemental safe space to share and open up and offload. Our dream is to share our training internationally.
