Conclusion

We've talked a lot about the life experiences that black women go through that make them feel dehumanized, less than, and neglected within our society. For our finale episode, we're going to be tying all of our conversations back to Black Feminist Theory, Othering, and Intersectionality, and really nailing down what black women need in our society to not be deemed as an "other".

Black Women in Medicine

Black women have been subjected to constant abuse from the medical system, both as doctors and patients. Black female doctors have to break down barriers while fighting the label of being incompetent, while black female patients are constantly being taken advantage of or neglected by their doctors. Tune into this episode where my guest and I break down experiences within the medical field and how this neglect forces black women to feel less than human.

Black Women in Media

Media and media portrayals play a huge role in how people are perceived and treated, especially black women. Black women have been subjected to many stereotypes within the media, and have been given very little room to be authentic and have depth. Tune into this episode where my 2 guests and I elaborate on how the media truly affects how people see black women and, in turn, how black women see themselves.

Commodification of Black Women

Throughout history, we've seen the constant sexualization of black women's bodies and who black women are as people. We also see how this constant sexualization affects how black women see themselves, but also how the world views and perceives black women. Tune into this episode where my guest and I do a deep dive into this commodification and how it affects black women's lives.

Introduction

We find that black women are at the bottom of the social ladder, constantly being made to feel inferior by their peers and by society. In black women's lives, many aspects and experiences force them to feel like outsiders within society, forcing them to live in a separate reality. I sought to answer the question: What are the aspects of black womanhood that force black women into the box of other? In this podcast, we will dive into these aspects and the realities of black women's lives.
