Ep. 15: Slipping Saddles, Illegal Shoes, Early Retirements & a Lack of Storytelling

The pair discuss the news of the week with Rich Strike's jockey Sonny Leon claiming a slipped saddle resulted in him giving an elbow to Tyler Gafflione in Saturday's Lukas Classic at Churchill Downs. Also why Michael believes, should Epicenter win the BC Classic next month, his stud fee would only go down should he race as a 4 year-old. The three panel the opening of the Saratoga 2022 meet and a few issues of controversy that go along with it. Get their takes on Juan Vazquez, a trainer who has pending animal cruelty issues involving the death of a racehorse, having two horses entered to run opening day at the premiere meet. They also discuss the Linda Rice case and how it differs from the Vazquez case in severity. Our panel weighs in on the new chute, or Wilson chute as it is called and whether it is a good or even potentially dangerous idea. A 105K purse maiden special weight race with 6 horses on opening day, what does that mean?
