unhetsplained
Today we're joined by Syeda Ali to discuss Section 28, an infamous piece of legislation introduced in 1988 which sought to limit teaching about homosexuality. Syeda is a brilliant queer historian who is researching the experiences of teachers during this time and exploring how resistance to this legislation enabled education on queer identities to continue. She recently completed an MA in Queer History at Goldsmiths, has taught history in London and Beijing, and is a champion for diversity within history and more broadly within schools.
