About Who's on the AUX?

“Who’s on the Aux?” is a freshman and sophomore-ran podcast that talks about different music artists. We discuss their backgrounds, talk about wether their music is good or not, and argue as to why the other person does or doesn’t like them. On our podcast there will be disagreements, drama, jokes, outside guests, and more. Each episode is about 8-10 minutes long and will include an intro, 3 segments, and an outro. At the ned of every episode we will give hints about our next artist so that the listeners can guess who it is. We hope that our podcast will be a funny and dramatic show for listeners.

We're Thunderstruck

Hopewell Valley Student Podcasting Network Show Name: Who’s on the Aux? Episode Title: We’re Thunderstruck You are listening to Who’s on the Aux, the podcast with your hosts Fiona Reznik and Aleena Kashif In this episode of Who’s on the Aux the Podcast, we discuss how we were thunderstruck. SEGMENT 1: INTRODUCTION Fiona: Who’s on the aux? We’re on the aux. Hello everyone, and welcome back to Who’s on the Aux podcast, where we discuss some of your favorite music artists and decide whether they are truly good or just overhyped. On the aux today, we have ACDC. Aleena: ACDC? Aren’t they like a heavy metal band or something? Fiona: Yeah, but they are like a good heavy metal band, and they are super popular. Aleena: Okay, whatever. Fiona: Anyways, I’m a bit nervous for this episode because my dad decided to be on the show. So I gotta be perfect and not embarrass myself. Aleena: Your dad??? Fiona: Yeah, let's meet him. (Dad introduces himself) Fiona: He got his Ph.D from Princeton! He’s super duper smart. And, a huge fan of heavy metal. (Dad talks about himself a little more) Aleena: Okay! Now, we’re going to discuss how AC/DC formed and learn more about them. SEGMENT 2: CAREER AND EARLY LIFE Fiona: Okay, to start, Dad, what do you know about AC/DC? Dad: Answers (either doesn’t know much and just listens to them, or he knows some history behind AC/DC) Aleena: Ohhh, that’s really cool. So you’ve been listening to them for a while now, then. Do you still listen to AC/DC, or just when you were younger? Fiona: Yeah, cause you're old. Aleena: I didn’t mean it like thattttt, just saying because I thought AC/DC was a band from when he was a teenager. Fiona: They first became a band in 1973, a year before my dad was born. I didn't realize how old he is until now. Aleena: hahhaaa Dad: Answers Aleena: Wait, Fiona, you said they became a band in 1973. How did that happen? Fiona: So it started with just two brothers, Malcolm and Angus Young. They wanted to make music because their eldest brother inspired them. Their most recent album was Power up in 2020. Aleena: Who was their brother? Fiona: George Young, he made The Easybeats, but anyways, then their sister, Margaret, helped with coming up the name…*gets cut off* Dad: Yeah, I know, the name AC/DC actually came from a sewing machine. It means altering current/direct current. Aleena: Ohh,h like the direction of the sewing machine. Fiona: Ahem.. I was gonna say that if you guys didn’t cut me off… ANYWAYS. Dad: Okay, I’m getting kind of bored with this. I already know everything about AC/DC! Fiona: Okay, since you know SOO much, I have a little surprise for segment 3! Aleena: Huh? What’s in segment 3? Fiona: You’ll find out right after this short break. SEGMENT 3: FICTIONAL GAMESHOW Fiona: Welcome back, everyone. I didn’t mention this earlier, but… in this episode, we are doing something a bit different. Instead of sharing opinions, we are going to play a fictional game show!!! Aleena: Yes, and Fiona's dad will play against each other to answer questions about AC/DC. Fiona: I will be the host of this game show. (Play Gameshow) Aleena: Thank you, everyone, for listening. We’re your hosts, Fiona Reznik and Aleena Kashof, signing off. Fiona: We have some huge news. Aleena and I have decided to continue the podcast. Episodes will take a little bit longer to publish because we are no longer in the class and will be a self-run podcast. Next time on the aux, we are doing another game show episode about the weekend. Except the entire episode will be about the weekend, and Aleena will play against my friend Amelia. I will award the winner with candy. Aleena: Music Credits and Social Media. Fiona: Dad, thank you so much for coming in and being a part of the podcast. I wish you would take me home with you, but I know you wouldn't. (Dad says whatever he wants) (Say bye) MUSIC CREDITS: 1. What's So True?

HOPEWELL VALLEY STUDENT PODCASTING NETWORK SHOW NAME: WHO’S ON THE AUX? EPISODE TITLE: WHAT’S SO TRUE? You are listening to Who’s on the Aux, the podcast with your hosts, Fiona Reznik and Aleena Kashif. In this episode of Who’s on the Aux, the Podcast, we discuss: What’s so true? About Gracie Abrams. SEGMENT 1: INTRODUCTION Aleena: Who’s on the Aux? We’re on the Aux. Hello everyone, and welcome back to Who’s on the Aux podcast, where we discuss some of your favorite music artists and decide whether they are truly good or overhyped. Fiona: Today on the Aux, we have Gracie Abrams, but before we dive deep into her, let's meet and interview one of our listeners who also happens to be our guest for today! Rory: (Introduce yourself) (Everyone interviews Rory a little bit.) SEGMENT 2: EARLY LIFE AND CAREER Fiona: So, Rory, do you know much about Gracie Abrams? I mean, I know you’re a fan of hers, but what about her early and how she got to where she is today? Rory: Yeah, I do! Fiona: Yeah, me too. Aleena: I don’t really know much about her, but I hope you guys can tell me about her. Fiona: September 7, 1999, in Los Angeles. She grew up in a creative Hollywood environment. She began writing music when she was around 8 years old. She attended The Archer School for Girls and later went on to Barnard College. She did pause her studies, though, to pursue her music full-time. Rory: Gracie is the daughter of filmmaker JJ Abrams, so she grew up in the Hollywood industry. She released her first album, Minor, in 2020, featuring songs like "21" and "I Miss You, I’m Sorry." Her second album, “This is What it Feels Like”, includes one of her most popular songs, “Feels Like.” In 2023, she released “Good Riddance,” which included songs like “I Know it Won't Work,” “Where Do We Go Now,” and “Amelie.” In 2024, she released her newest album, “The Secret of Us.” This album gained popularity incredibly quickly with popular songs including “Risk,” “I Love You, I’m Sorry,” and “That’s so True.” (Aleena can jump in whenever and ask questions.) Aleena: Before you all get to hear what I thought about today's artists, let's take a break to listen to some of our classmates talk about their podcast. SEGMENT 3: OPINIONS AND OUTRO. Aleena: (Welcome, everyone, back.) (Everyone says their opinions.) Fiona: Thank you, everyone, for listening. We’re your hosts, Fiona Reznik and Aleena Kashif, signing off. Next week on the Aux, we have what may be our final artist of the show. Aleena and I are unsure whether we want to continue the podcast after the class ends. But enough about the sad stuff, let's drop some hints for the next artist. They are a band; one of their most popular songs has to do with weather, and of course, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Aleena: (Music Credits and Social Media) (Thank Rory, for coming onto the show today and saying bye and thank you) MUSIC CREDITS: 1. Club Love - Everet Almond 2. Carti Said WHAT? (We Still Don't Know.)

HOPEWELL VALLEY STUDENT PODCASTING NETWORK SHOW NAME: WHO’S ON THE AUX? EPISODE TITLE: CARTI SAID WHAT? (WE STILL DON’T KNOW.) You are listening to “Who’s on the Aux?”, the podcast with your hosts, Fiona Reznik and Aleena Kashif. In this episode of “Who’s on the Aux?” the Podcast, we discuss: Carti said WHAT? (We still don’t know). SEGMENT 1: INTRODUCTION Fiona: Who’s on the Aux? We’re on the Aux/ Hello everyone and welcome back to Who’s on the Aux podcast, where we discuss some of your favorite music artists and decide whether they are truly overhyped. Today on the aux, we are discussing Playboi Carti. And yes, we still don’t know what he said. Aleena: Fiona, have you ever listened to Playboi Carti? Fiona: Not really, but I’ve heard about him. Aleena: Oh, that's.. Sad. Fiona: Rude much? Aleena: Sorry, not sorry. But you’ve definitely heard of him. Fiona: And how do you know that? Aleena: You know the TikTok sound, “Wake up, it’s the first of the month.”? Fiona: Yeah, it’s a really popular sound. Aleena: Yeah, well, it’s from his song Sky. Fiona: Oh. I didn’t know that. But now we have to get into his early life and Career. Aleena: Yeah, or else this episode would be too long. SEGMENT 2: CAREER & EARLY LIFE Fiona: So I know there are “underground rappers” that not many people know about. Was he like one of them, and did he eventually gain fame and get to where he is now? Aleena: Yes, exactly. He was basically just an underground artist who made his way up, and now he is collaborating with big artists like “The Weeknd”. He actually gained a LOT of fame. Fiona: So, where did everything start?? Aleena: Jordan Terrel Carter, I mean Playboi Carti, was born in Atlanta, Georgia. That's also where other artists that he collaborated with were from. Like Ken Carson, for example. Fiona: Ohhh, okay, so his real name is Jordan Terrel Carter. I can kinda see how he got Playboi Carti from that. Wait, but why do so many artists change their names? Aleena: Well, I mean, it's not like they change it legally. They really just change it for fame and persona, I guess. Like that’s aura. He first made it Sir Cartier, because he was in a mall and passed by a Cartier store. This was his like soundcloud name, before he got famous. Anyways, back to Playboi Carti, when he was young, he wanted to be like a D1 basketball player, but obviously, that didn’t happen. Fiona: Why, did he just lose interest? Aleenea: Kinda. He had some conflicts with his coach so he just quit. He kept making music on soundclound and other places and connected with people. He started getting into fashion and then eventually moved to NYC. He signed a label with A$AP Rocky, who was a big music artist. Fiona: Wait what were the songs that made him famous though? Aleena: The two songs that made him become recongized were Fetti and Broke boi and he made this as Sir Cartier, not Playboi carti. Fiona: So he made it like still as an underground artist right? Aleena: Yeahh what do u think about him. Fiona: We’ll talk about that in segment 3! Before you guys get to know what I think about Playboi Carti, let's first take a break to listen to one of our classmates' podcasts! SEGMENT 3: OPINIONS AND CONCLUSION Fiona: Welcome back, everyone! Let’s get into some opinions. (All talk about opinions) Aleena: Thank you, everyone, for listening. Were your hosts Fiona Reznik [fionareznik@hvrsd.org] and Aleena Kashif [aleenakashif@hvrsd.org] signing off. Next week of the aux, we have a female artist. She is known for right some pretty sad songs. One of her songs is called I Told You Things. She also did a collab with Noah Kahan for a song for a movie called Regretting You. Fiona: Music Credits and Social Media. And next week on the Aux, we have a guest! Make sure to stay tuned! (Say bye) MUSIC CREDITS: LIST THE ARTIST AND SONG NAME 1. Club Love - Everet Almond 2. Heartbreak, Healing, and Love

Hopewell Valley Student Podcasting Network - Show Name: Who’s on the Aux? Episode Title: Heartbreak, Healing, and Love You are listening to Who’s on the Aux, the podcast with your hosts Fiona Reznik and Aleena Kashif. In this episode of Who’s on the Aux the Podcast, we discuss: Heartbreak, Healing, and Love SEGMENT 1: INTRODUCTION Aleena: Who’s on the Aux? We’re on the Aux. Hello everyone, and welcome back to Who’s on the Aux podcast, where we discuss some of your favorite music artists and decide whether they are truly good or just over hyped. Fiona: That’s right. So who are we talking about today? Aleena: We are talking about the guy they say who was built from heartbreak… Fiona: Which is??? Aleena: Zach Bryan, duh Fiona: Who?? Aleena: I honestly don’t really know either, I’m not gonna lie. However, I did some research, and he is an American songwriter. Fiona: Yeah, never heard of him Aleena: Yeah- wait, wait, we just got a message from one of our listeners! SEGMENT 2: EARLY LIFE AND CAREER Fiona: Okay! Read it now! Aleena: This is a question from Julie, who emailed me from Australia! She is wondering what inspired us to create a podcast and why we chose this particular topic. (Talk about why we chose podcasting, and we did this topic.) Fiona: Moving back into the topic of this episode Aleena: (Talk about Zach Bryan) As ironic as it is, even though Zach Bryan makes many country and American songs, he was actually born in Japan. Fiona: No way, was he raised there? Aleena: Nope, he was raised in Oklahoma, but both of his parents were stationed in Japan because both parents were serving time in the U.S Navy. Which later on, influenced Zach to serve there too, but I’ll get into that later. Fiona: Oh, so when would he even have time to start music then? Aleena: Basically, when he was 14, his grandfather gifted him a guitar, which was literally all that Zach needed. Zach had a spark, and I guess the guitar made it bigger. Fiona: But why would his grandfather just randomly give him a guitar? Aleena: He would write some poetry when he was 12, and I think his grandfather just saw a gift in him. Fiona: Okay, so what about him serving in the Navy? Aleena: After high school, he decided to enlist, following in his parents' footsteps. He stayed for 8 years before he decided to leave. While he was in the Navy, he would upload videos of himself singing, and they were unedited. It showed many people his talent, and as soon as he left, he decided to keep doing music. Fiona: How much longer after that did he actually become recognized, or famous? Aleena: He mainly got recognized because he would post videos on YouTube while he was still in the Navy. This one video he posted on YouTube was named “Heading South”, which was literally filmed on his phone. This gave him recognition and gathered many, but his debut album was made after the death of his mother, Annette, in 2019. In her memory, he named the album DeAnn. Fiona: Aww, that is very sentimental, like making a whole album named after his mom. But what after that? Aleena: Well, he started releasing more and more independent albums, and he started gaining fans and fame. Eventually, he went on tour, and now people listen to him daily. Fiona: That's cool, I’m gonna listen to one of his songs, because I still don't even know who he is. Aleena: Before we get into opinions, let's hear from one of our classmates about their podcast. SEGMENT 3: OPINIONS AND CONCLUSION Aleena: (Welcome everyone back) So, do you listen to country music, or do you like it? Fiona: Opinions Aleena: Opinions Aleena: Thank you for listening. Were your hosts Fiona Reznik and Aleena Kashif signing off? Next week on the Aux, we have yet again another male artist. He is a rapper and is known for his Sky. He has a vampire-inspired aesthetic.
