WSW S1: Ep. 4 - Dionisia Hatzis (Dio)
Welcome to the newly launched WOMAN SEES WORLD PODCAST [https://womanseesworld.com/]! It is ready for your ears and energy! My fourth guest is Dio Hatzis of Boulder, CO.
Episode 4 with Dionisia Hatzis
Stepping into a bigger world requires an expanded perspective and Dio has always had her eye toward the great unknowns in life. Dio is a hungry aspirant of knowledge, an artist to her core, adventurer and world traveler with the heart of a goddess in training, embodying life in its most sacred. Whether its hiking in nature, gardening in her backyard, coaching and writing for other seeking souls, or dancing in community. A native of New York from a big, Greek family, Dionisia (her full name) happily embraces her connection to Dionysis, the archetype of the racy God (after all he was god of vegetation, fertility, festival, religious ecstasy, madness, wine, music and theatre). Heritage, lineage and found family all add to the tapestry of experience that has shaped her life’s journey.Dio’s magnetic energy has been a catalyst for her career path as a writer, teacher and herbalist. Using her words, her body and her feminine wisdom, she shares light and lineage with others on a path toward becoming — becoming whole and alive in this life, right now, by recognizing and embracing your truth. Now on the pathway of the Red Rose, ordained as a Magdalene Priestess, she harnesses the ancient ministry of Mary Magdalene (a high priestess and saint in her own right, a story covered up by the patriarchy) in the holy practice of anointing and scent medicine.
I gathered interviews in 2024 and 2025 for this first season of the Woman Sees World podcast, a project that has been long time coming, and these conversations are truly timeless. Dio and I spoke in September 2024 and her words are still as potent and relevant today as it was on that afternoon in 2024. Enjoy!
BIOA writer all her life, Dionisia is also a devoted Priestess, dancer, workshop facilitator, herbalist and artist. She studied English Literature at Colgate University in upstate New York, completed her yoga teacher certification at Kripalu Yoga Center in the Berkshires and received her Reiki Master training at Reiki Colorado Academy. She’s currently enrolled in a many-years-long Mystery School with Elayne Kalila and Diana Dubrow, training to be a modern Scent Priestess. Also a Mind-Body Somatic coach, she launched SOMA Writing, an online and in-person creative expression workshop that fuses movement and writing to help participants unveil the hidden narratives within their bodies. She has traveled the globe several times over and has created a sense of home in the concrete jungles of New York and London, as well as the high desert mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. She currently resides in the foothills of the Rockies with her partner, dog and cat. Inspired by nature, the elements, and the divine feminine, she weaves poetry through art, ceremony, ritual, and plant magic. When she’s not writing or dancing, she spends most of her free time hiking to alpine lakes and whispering to flowers and trees.
Dio can be booked for private and group somatic coaching clients — visit her website dionisiahatzis.com [http://dionisiahatzis.com/] to learn more and get on her waiting list!

Timestamps
1:35 - My biggest concern for the world is what we are doing to the plane. Our desecration of the Earth, Mama Gaia is the perfect symbol of how we’re desecrating the feminine
2:35 - Not thrilled with how America is moving, concerned about all the division that gets worse upon election years - regardless of who is in the White House
3:30 - I find myself chugging along even though I feel it’s wrong in my bones. How do I unsubscribe from humanity (haha)?
4:30 - We are not living in coherence with Nature - for me gardening feels like a revolutionary act
5:43 - Self care is taking deep breaths – I learned how to breathe from yoga but it took many years
6:28 - I learned how to take a big breath before expressing something big
8:30 - What brings me optimism is the rising of the Divine Feminine, even though that term has become mainstream and overused but it’s good people are taking note
9:50 - Admitting it’s a tough time to be a man but it’s necessary for us to have conversations with men about femininity, about questioning their “rule of the world”
11:40 - I didn’t have too many female friends when I was younger, felt more comfortable with the guys and thought I wasn’t a girl’s girl
12:50 - I have always been open and free and confident and that can rub people the wrong way
13:55 - As I got older I found myself in community with women, in my 30s
15:19 - Tradition/memory/ritual passed down: I have a memory of my paternal grandmother of her long mane of thick, silver hair wore in a braid down to her butt and would watch her undo her braid and would admire her wavy, silver hair.
16:26 - I started to change my view of beauty and aging, mostly women had issues with me letting my hair silver. There is such beauty and wisdom in aging.
17:41 - Spiritual and alignment practices: along the lines of Paganism, witchcraft and the Red Rose priestess path. I’m in a mystery school learning the art of anointing, working with holy oils. Stepping on the path of the Red Rose felt like — where have you been all my life. I always knew something was there but didn’t know how to find it.
19:25 - No one is between me and the Divine. We won’t get burned at the stake anymore for expressing our beliefs and witchy nature.
23:50 - Person of greatest impact: my father had a huge impact on me and his death was the birth of my spiritual rebirth
25:30 - When the priest spoke at his funeral I didn’t feel anything, those words didn’t provide any comfort
27:31 - How can humans unify? We can find unity as humans if we work on our communication skills. We are going to have differing opinions and thoughts. We need to have conversations rather than casting people out as “other” or we’ll never get to a place of healing.
If we can’t be in community with people who disagree with us this tumble cycle is never going to stop.
32:00 - Ways to reframe: It’s not easy to communicate or feel love for those who don’t feel it for us. How I deal with people who are doing hateful things, people who aren’t concerned with people or the planet – maybe they are baby souls and they haven’t gotten the experience
34:48 - Big life lesson so far: Great piece of wisdom for me - not everyone needs to like me. Living by this Dio-ism: I may not be everyone’s cup of coffee but I’m definitely somebody’s cup of tea
We cannot be everything to everyone - knowing the difference between like and love
40:14 - If you could give your younger self advice? I would go back to my 17-18 year old version of me that was overly concerned with my intellectual education when I really wanted to be in the art studio all the time. I was so concerned about finding a career to make a living and not be a starving artist
43:08 - I think it’s important for kids to be allowed to explore all their curiosities, to play and find out what really drives them - and it shifts and changes
50:00 - Astrological reading - a fiery, strong and confident chart
