But when we are happy with our work, our lives are better—and the work is too. “Serve the LORD with gladness; come into his presence with singing.” (Psalm 100:2) Not every job or task is pleasant or fulfilling in itself. But it is easier to work with gladness when we understand how our work serves something beyond ourselves. I had a grand-uncle by marriage who worked two forty-hour-a-week jobs. He kept one for thirty-five years and the other for twenty-five years. When asked how he did it, he said he couldn’t provide for his family the way he wanted to with one job. So he was glad to work two because of what it allowed him to do. We can work and serve with gladness when we understand how our work makes a difference—when we recognize that we serve God by serving one another. When We Want To Get Better

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295449/fan_mail/new] When We Want To Get Better Sometimes when we want to get better, we begin by taking an honest look at ourselves. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts… and lead me in the way everlasting.” — from Psalm 139:23–24 The psalmist wasn’t asking God to search the hearts of friends or family, strangers or enemies. He was asking God to search his own. Growth isn’t about measuring ourselves against other people. It’s about honestly seeing where we are, where we hope to be, and being willing to let God guide us there. I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you. #60SecondsofHope #DailyReflection #Encouragement #SpiritualEncouragement #SpiritualGrowth #Discipleship #DailyDevotion #DailyInspiration #Faith #Hope #FaithandLife #HopeForToday Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295449/support]

When Fear Stops Us

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2295449/fan_mail/new] When Fear Stops Us Sometimes we fear the worst and refuse to try. Romans reminds us that we “did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear…” — from Romans 8:15. Some of our fears are well founded. We don’t deny the dangers or the risks. But we won’t be paralyzed by them either. Other fears are not well founded, and we refuse to become slaves to them. In both cases, we seek to make reality-based decisions, guided by faith and hope rather than constrained by fear.
