Asystematic Theology
Podcast de Dr. Daniel Passini
Doctrine and systematic theology have their place. They are the guardrails in theology and our Christian walk. The problem is more times than not we encounter God outside the box. We encounter him in movies, music, literature, art, science, culture, and life, or in other words, in the mess and mass of life. This podcast is all about finding God outside of Sunday mornings and the mundane. It's all about finding God outside the box.

It's no secret we are living in stressful times. Anxiety is at incredibly high levels, leading to all sorts of health issues. Today, I share some of my own anxious thoughts about this current season of life, and unpack what scripture says on anxiety. While this video addresses anxiety in this particular season of pandemic, the scriptural principles are applicable to any season of life. I'll be unpacking two specific scriptures on anxiety today. Our most famous scripture on this topic is probably Philippians 4:6, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. The other scripture we'll look at today is Jude 1:20-21, But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. The Blessing Is In The Obedience - Delivered 11/10/19 at the 8am service of First United Methodist Church in Williamsport, PA. This message is part 2 in a series on the "Life Of David."

There’s an old saying that says only 2 things are guaranteed in life: death and taxes. In the last episode I discussed the concepts of current life expectancy rates, radical life extension, and preparing your children for the 22nd century, because current research is doing its best to try and curb death for lengthy periods of time, or even in definitely. But there’s always two sides to every coin, and we really have to live in surround sound. We have to look at both sides, and listen to the dialogue coming from both ends of the spectrum. So on the flip side of that conversation of radical life extension lays the very real understanding that someday we will die. Regardless of age, race, socioeconomic status, geographic location, or any other variable all of us will one day end up as a worm buffet. Except in the Bible we see the stories of both Enoch and Elijah that never tasted death. The post biblical Jewish Midrash actually lists 8 people. Outside of these exceptions the rest of us fall under the category of those who will eventually kick the bucket. There’s this old Latin Christian theory and practice called Momento Mori, which translated means “Remember that you will die.” You can find the full show notes, links, and resources at http://danielpassini.org/asystematic-theology-010-momento-mori Music Credit: Artist: Pierce Murphy Song: Hey Mercy URL: http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Pierce_Murphy/This_Isnt_Magic_It_Is_Just_Music/Pierce_Murphy_-_This_Isnt_Magic_It_Is_Just_Music-_A_Demo_-_10_Hey_Mercy
