episode I Saw Things I Imagined artwork
I Saw Things I Imagined

This week's episode titled "I Saw Things I Imagined", is a solo episode and we talk about pornography, feminism, agency , fantasy, and MUCH MORE! We are looking at Mireille Miller-Young's work A Taste for Brown Sugar where she positions erotic sovereignty as that which reterritorializes the always already exploitable Black woman's body. We find in this text that sex serves as a site for thinking different, a site for thinking possibility in the space of oppression. When thinking sex and the Black woman, gender and race intersects with history in a highly specific way that provides Miller-Young a site for challenging how we come to know, come to embody, and come to live through oppression and liberation. Sex is a tool used in Black feminism for looking at politics, policy, class, resistance, refusal, pleasure, respectability, racism, and many other popular theories in Black feminisms. What are the limits of our fantasies? How can we expand them to achieve pleasure? Listen to my thoughts and responses to these and other questions on this weeks episode of Bwitch, Please! episode Can I Cum? artwork
Can I Cum?

We're Back!! This week's episode titled "Can I Cum?", is a solo episode and we talk about orgasm, empowerment, silence , community, and MUCH MORE! This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color edited by Gloria Anzaldúa and Cherríe Moraga explores the concept of knowing by challenging its readers to interrogate who gets to be known and by whom, who has to learn whom and what they come to know. This knowing differs along the lines of gender and the conversation this week provokes knowing by looking at orgasms. Is there value in translating desire for your partner? How vocal are you about what you like and don't like during intimacy? How have we been socialized to be silent? We respond to these questions and so many more on this weeks episode of Bwitch, Please! The Podcast. Come hang with us! This episode was sponsored by Get Bodied by Shane Donae a black and woman owned all natural body and hair nutriment line. episode Let's Make a Movie! artwork
Let's Make a Movie!

This week's episode titled "Lets Make a Movie", is a solo episode and we talk about pornography, feminism, sex work , academic scandal, and MUCH MORE! Jennifer Nash's work in The Black Body in Ecstasy: Reading Race, Reading Pornography foregrounds this week's conversation about home movies, pornography, and public displays of pleasure. Nash reimagines what pleasure is possible in racialized pornography for bodies at the margin. They use the term racial iconography as a way to imagine race as a technology of domination and a technology of pleasure. I look at what pleasure is possible when living in a hyper-visible, hyper-sexual, racialized body. Won't you join the party? Listen to my thoughts and responses to these and other questions on this weeks episode of Bwitch, Please! The Podcast. episode Probing the Erotic artwork
Probing the Erotic

This week's episode titled "Probing the Erotic", is a solo episode and we talk about the erotic as power, pleasure and sex as reclamation, sexy photoshoots, and MUCH MORE! In Sister Outsider, Audre Lorde charts the erotic as political; A way to center intimacy across relationships in productive and selfish ways. She reminds us that sex was/is important in a time where gay/lesbian intercourse was and is being demonized and scripted as deviant. Following Lorde towards a sentiment of sex for sex's sake, pleasure for pleasure's sake, I explore the intersections of politics and sex. Is this an unlikely pairing? Does one inform the way we engage with the other? Is sex political? Listen to my thoughts and responses to these and other questions on this weeks episode of Bwitch, Please! The Podcast. episode Kink for All Humanity artwork
Kink for All Humanity

On this week's episode titled "Kink For All Humanity", we have the illustrious Dr. Amber Jamilla Musser on the show and we talk about kink, masochism, WAP, liberation and MUCH MORE! Amber Jamilla Musser's Sensational Flesh: Race, Power, and Masochism underscores our conversation on kink. Following up our expansive conversation on consent, we piggyback those ideas by adding masochism to the mix. For Musser, masochism allows us to probe different ways of experiencing power. It functions as an embodied form of social critique and simultaneously reveals how its performative inversions can serve to reinforce the status quo. My guest and I use these ideas posed by Musser to explore the world of kink and our own engagements with kinky pleasure. Do you come wanna play with us?
