Podcast de Pippa Laverty

ChampPain with Pippa Laverty Getting to the top in your sport is never easy. There no bubbles without first some troubles. I’ve experienced this first hand whilst supporting my husband race motorcycles in both the World Superbike and MotoGP championships. There is a whole network of people around an athlete. I’m lucky enough to be in a position to meet both the athletes and the interesting group of people who work alongside them. In each podcast I interview these inspirational people about their roles and where this journey in sport has taken them.

Sarah Hartley, the wife of 24hr Le Mans champion and F1 driver Brendon Hartley, sits down with Pippa and goes over what an emotional rollercoaster it is to have husbands in motorsport. Sarah and Brendon got to know each other from opposite sides of the world staying in touch despite the long distance. She then made the jump from New Zealand to the UK when she was just 18 after spending 2 years working as a waitress to save up the cash for the move.  During the podcast Pippa and Sarah reflect on the recent trauma of Eugene’s injury at the start of the year and highlight the importance of having a close network of supportive friends.
