Send us a note! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2558759/fan_mail/new] God doesn’t need a résumé. He wants a heart that’s honest, humbled, and ready to be changed. We open with a simple cry that cuts through religious noise: Lord, save us, revive us, shine upon us. From there Pastor Carl leads a verse-by-verse Bible teaching through Isaiah 5, where God sings a Song of the Vineyard. Everything is prepared for good fruit, yet wild grapes show up instead. The hard turn is the point: the people invited to “judge” the vineyard realize they are the vineyard, and the issue is not God’s lack of care but our refusal to walk in His ways. That theme deepens in Psalm 80 with the repeated prayer, “Restore us, O God; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved.” We talk about God’s mercy, the Shepherd of Israel, and why real spiritual renewal can’t be self-manufactured. The connections keep building into the New Testament: Jesus as the true vine, the vineyard parable, and Christ as the cornerstone in Matthew 21. The question lands personally, not theoretically: will we fall on the Rock in repentance and be broken so healing can begin, or hold out until pride turns into ruin? We also touch Romans 11, Israel and replacement theology, and why God’s purpose is bigger than our categories. Isaiah’s “woes” bring it into daily life with warnings about greed, exploiting others, and intoxication that blinds us to God’s work. If you’re tired of striving, this teaching points to surrender, fruitfulness, and the grace that actually changes us from the inside out. Portada del episodio Isaiah 11 And The Branch From Jesse

Isaiah 11 And The Branch From Jesse

Send us a note! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2558759/fan_mail/new] A single word can change how you read a whole passage and how you trust the Bible. Pastor Carl takes us into Isaiah 11 and shows why the “Branch” from the line of Jesse isn’t just poetic language, it’s a messianic prophecy that points straight to Jesus. We follow the thread from the Old Testament to the New Testament and land on a famous puzzle from Matthew 2:23: “He shall be called a Nazarene.” Where is that “prophecy” in the Hebrew Scriptures? The answer is surprisingly careful, rooted in how Scripture interprets Scripture and how the Holy Spirit can reveal deeper connections without ripping verses out of context. Along the way, we talk about why confident, context-free interpretation is one of the fastest paths toward false teaching, even when it sounds spiritual. Isaiah 11 also gives a clear framework for the “seven spirits of God” language in Revelation. Rather than seven different spirits, we see the sevenfold ministry and attributes of the one Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. That leads into a bigger hope, God’s righteous judgment, the power of his Word, and the peaceable kingdom where creation is remade and the earth is filled with the knowledge of the Lord. Grace That Breaks Sin’s Grip

Send us a note! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2558759/fan_mail/new] Pride loves to take credit and it rarely sees judgment coming. Today we sit with Isaiah’s blunt picture of Assyria: a ruthless power that boasts like it owns the world, even though it’s only an instrument in God’s hands. Pastor Carl walks us through the “axe and saw” warning against arrogance, then brings it home with a question that hits all of us: when life is going well, do we quietly start believing our strength is the reason? From there, the conversation widens into spiritual realities. We talk about how Scripture uses images like birds and leaven to warn that the enemy doesn’t only attack from the outside, and how small sin can spread until it hollows out a heart or a church. We also explore God’s character as both Savior and Judge, and why that isn’t a contradiction but a call to choose which side we’ll stand on through repentance and trust. Hope runs through the whole message in the promise of a remnant and in the gospel itself. God’s grace is bigger than any sin, but it never excuses sin. Jesus, the Anointed One, invites the heavy-laden to come for rest, breaks the yoke, and gives new hearts that can actually obey. If you’re wrestling with fear, addiction, shame, or self-reliance, this teaching offers a clear path back: stop making alliances with what feels powerful and run to Christ instead.  Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review with the line that challenged you most. When God Uses A Nation In Isaiah 10

Send us a note! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2558759/fan_mail/new] Power loves to take credit, but Isaiah 10 rips the mask off. When leaders write unjust laws, exploit the poor, and treat widows and orphans as disposable, God calls it what it is and warns that a day of punishment comes for every proud system that crowns itself untouchable. We walk through Isaiah’s warning to Israel and the shocking twist that follows: God raises up Assyria as a rod of correction. That does not mean God blesses Assyria or approves its brutality. Assyria marches in thinking it’s unstoppable, boasting like an axe bragging about the one who swings it, and God promises to judge that arrogance too. Along the way, we talk about spiritual warfare, why distraction and sin can make faith stale, and how New Testament images like birds and leaven reveal the enemy’s strategy to snatch the Word before it takes root and to spread corruption until it ruins the whole lump. Pastor Carl also explains how Bible prophecy works not only as predictions and fulfillments, but as repeating patterns that echo through history, including how Assyria can function as a prophetic picture that points toward the Antichrist pattern. The episode ends with a clear call to depend on the Holy One of Israel in truth, because God is both Savior and Judge, a refining fire that burns away what is false and strengthens what is real. Isaiah 9 - When Judgment Feels Like Fire

Send us a note! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2558759/fan_mail/new] A wildfire doesn’t need much fuel to spread, and Isaiah says a culture can burn the same way when people forsake God. Pastor Carl brings that warning into sharp focus, showing how judgment can look less like a lightning bolt and more like God letting us experience the natural consequences of our own choices. If you’ve ever wondered why the world feels like it’s unraveling or why “bad things happen to good people,” this message doesn’t dodge the tension. It slows down, questions our assumptions about goodness, and points to the moral reality that makes our outrage possible in the first place. From there, the tone shifts from gloom to hope as Isaiah 9 opens up Galilee’s story: the very place that first tasted oppression becomes the place where Light breaks in. We walk through the prophecy of the virgin-born child, Emmanuel, and the sweeping titles that describe Jesus with clarity and weight: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. We also connect the promise of deliverance to Gideon’s unlikely victory, a reminder that God fights battles in ways that humble pride and free people from heavy burdens. The message gets uncomfortably practical when it turns to national arrogance, leadership that misleads, and the reflex to “rebuild stronger” without repentance, even touching on the way Scripture was quoted after 9/11. The thread that holds it together is simple: God is zealous and jealous for our good, and His correction is meant to bring us back into safety, not push us away.  Listen, share with a friend who needs hope that isn’t shallow, and subscribe and leave a review so more people can find Come On Up. Grace As The Strength To Obey

Send us a note! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2558759/fan_mail/new] Fear can make smart people do foolish things. That’s why Isaiah’s warning feels so current: when leaders and crowds panic, form alliances, and chase control, God calls His people to a different center of gravity. We talk about why the Lord is “with us” only in the sense that we trust Him, believe Him, and obey Him, and how trying to please God in our own strength can quietly turn into a religion we built to bless ourselves. The core takeaway is a relief and a rebuke at the same time: the source of obedience is God’s grace, not our willpower.  We also wrestle with what it means to fear the Lord instead of fearing people. Isaiah says God becomes a sanctuary for those who hallow Him, but a stumbling stone for those who reject His truth. That theme runs straight into practical life: how to stand for righteousness without being motivated by threats, how to “wait on the Lord” by staying faithful to the last thing He told you, and why discipleship is inseparable from discipline shaped by Scripture. If you’ve ever felt pressured by the news cycle, social outrage, or cultural intimidation, this conversation aims to steady your footing.  From there we confront counterfeit spirituality. Isaiah calls out the temptation to seek mediums, psychics, and the dead “on behalf of the living,” and we explain why spiritual experiences are not automatically spiritual truth. The standard is “the law and the testimony,” God’s Word, because voices that refuse that light ultimately lead to confusion, anger, and deeper darkness. And then Isaiah turns the corner toward hope: the people who walked in darkness see a great light, pointing to Emmanuel, Jesus, and to God’s surprising way of winning battles, like Gideon with only 300.  If this helped you, subscribe, share the episode, and leave a review so more people can find it.
