ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ soohee mahalaa chauthhaa || Soohee, Fourth Mehla: ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਜਿਓ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮੁ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਦਾਲਦ ਦਲਘਾ ॥ har har naam bhajio purakhotam sabh binase dhaaladh dhalaghaa || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਉੱਤਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਰਿੱਦ੍ਰ, ਦਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ I chant and vibrate the Name of the Lord God, the Supreme Being, Har, Har; my poverty and problems have all been eradicated. ਭਉ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣਾ ਮੇਟਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਮਘਾ ॥੧॥ bhau janam maranaa meTio gur sabadhee har asathir sev sukh samaghaa ||1|| ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਭੀ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ । ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।੧। The fear of birth and death has been erased, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad; serving the Unmoving, Unchanging Lord, I am absorbed in peace. ||1|| ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਰਘਾ ॥ mere man bhaj raam naam at piraghaa || ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅੱਤ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ O my mind, vibrate the Name of the most Beloved, Darling Lord. ਮੈ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਵੇਚਿ ਲੀਓ ਮੁਲਿ ਮਹਘਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ mai man tan arap dhario gur aagai sir vech leeo mul mahaghaa ||1|| rahaau || ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਇਵਜ਼ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। I have dedicated my mind and body, and placed them in offering before the Guru; I have sold my head to the Guru, for a very dear price. ||1||Pause|| ਨਰਪਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਣਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਕੜਿ ਖੜੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਲਘਾ ॥ narapat raaje ra(n)g ras maaneh bin naavai pakaR khaRe sabh kalaghaa || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ The kings and the rulers of men enjoy pleasures and delights, but without the Name of the Lord, death seizes and dispatches them all. ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਸਿਰਿ ਡੰਡੁ ਲਗਾਨਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੇ ਹਥ ਫਲਘਾ ॥੨॥ dharam rai sir dda(n)dd lagaanaa fir pachhutaane hath falaghaa ||2|| ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡੰਡਾ ਵੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਪਛਤਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨। The Righteous Judge of Dharma strikes them over the heads with his staff, and when the fruits of their actions come into their hands, then they regret and repent. ||2|| ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਜਨ ਕਿਰਮ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਲਘਾ ॥ har raakh raakh jan kiram tumaare saranaagat purakh pratipalaghaa || ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ! ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ) ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਜੀਵ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ । Save me, save me, Lord; I am Your humble servant, a mere worm. I seek the Protection of Your Sanctuary, O Primal Lord, Cherisher and Nourisher. ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਲੋਚ ਪੂਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਮਘਾ ॥੩॥ dharasan sa(n)t dheh sukh paavai prabh loch poor jan tumaghaa ||3|| ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ, ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ, ਇਸ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦਾਸ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ ।੩। Please bless me with the Blessed Vision of the Saint's Darshan, that I may find peace. O God, please fulfill the desires of Your humble servant. ||3|| ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਘਾ ॥ tum samarath purakh vadde prabh suaamee mo kau keejai dhaan har nimaghaa || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈਂ You are the All-powerful, Great, Primal God, my Lord and Master. O Lord, please bless me with the gift of humility. ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਹਮ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਘੁਮਘਾ ॥੪॥੨॥ jan naanak naam milai sukh paavai ham naam viTahu sadh ghumaghaa ||4||2|| ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹ । ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ।੪।੨। Servant Nanak has found the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and is at peace; I am forever a sacrifice to the Naam. ||4||2|| Guru Raam Daas Ji in Raag Soohee - 731

ਸਲੋਕ ॥ salok || Shalok: ਰਾਜ ਕਪਟੰ ਰੂਪ ਕਪਟੰ ਧਨ ਕਪਟੰ ਕੁਲ ਗਰਬਤਹ ॥ raaj kapaTa(n) roop kapaTa(n) dhan kapaTa(n) kul garabateh || ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਰਾਜ ਰੂਪ ਧਨ ਤੇ (ਉੱਚੀ) ਕੁਲ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ—ਸਭ ਛਲ-ਰੂਪ ਹੈ Power is fraudulent, beauty is fraudulent, and wealth is fraudulent, as is pride of ancestry. ਸੰਚੰਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਛਲੰ ਛਿਦ੍ਰੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਤੇ ॥੧॥ sa(n)cha(n)t bikhiaa chhala(n) chhidhra(n) naanak bin har sa(n)g na chaalate ||1|| ਜੀਵ ਛਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਲਾ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਕਈ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਾਇਆ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਏਥੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ ।੨। One may gather poison through deception and fraud, O Nanak, but without the Lord, nothing shall go along with him in the end. ||1|| ਪੇਖੰਦੜੋ ਕੀ ਭੁਲੁ ਤੁੰਮਾ ਦਿਸਮੁ ਸੋਹਣਾ ॥ pekha(n)dhaRo kee bhul tu(n)maa dhisam sohanaa || ਤੁੰਮਾ ਵੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਦਿੱਸਿਆ । ਕੀ ਇਹ ਉਕਾਈ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ? ਇਸ ਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਧੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ Beholding the bitter melon, he is deceived, since it appears so pretty ਅਢੁ ਨ ਲਹੰਦੜੋ ਮੁਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜੁਲਈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ add na laha(n)dhaRo mul naanak saath na juliee maiaa ||2|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਭਾ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਭੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਏਥੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ ।੨। But it is not worth even a shell, O Nanak; the riches of Maya will not go along with anyone. ||2|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pauRee || Pauree: ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਸੰਜੀਐ ॥ chaladhiaa naal na chalai so kiau sa(n)jeeaai || ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਲਾਭ, ਜੋ (ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ It shall not go along with you when you depart - why do you bother to collect it? ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਜਤਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਵੰਜੀਐ ॥ tis kaa kahu kiaa jatan jis te va(n)jeeaai || ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੱਸੋ ਕੀਹ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ? Tell me, why do you try so hard to acquire that which you must leave behind in the end? ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਿਐ ਕਿਉ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਜੀਐ ॥ har bisariaai kiau tirapataavai naa man ra(n)jeeaai || ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆਂ (ਨਿਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ) ਰੱਜੀਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ Forgetting the Lord, how can you be satisfied? Your mind cannot be pleased. ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਰਕਿ ਸਮੰਜੀਐ ॥ prabhoo chhodd an laagai narak sama(n)jeeaai || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ, ਦਇਆ ਕਰ, One who forsakes God, and attaches himself to another, shall be immersed in hell. ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਇਆਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਉ ਭੰਜੀਐ ॥੧੦॥ hoh kirapaal dhiaal naanak bhau bha(n)jeeaai ||10|| ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ ।੧੦। Be kind and compassionate to Nanak, O Lord, and dispel his fear. ||10|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Jaithsree - 708

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ikOankaar satigur prasaadh || One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀ ਕੀ ॥ raag soohee baanee sekh fareedh jee kee || Raag Soohee, The Word Of Shaykh Fareed Jee: ਤਪਿ ਤਪਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਮਰੋਰਉ ॥ tap tap luh luh haath marorau || ਬੜੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਬੜੀ ਤੜਫ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਹੱਥ ਮਲ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ, Burning and burning, writhing in pain, I wring my hands. ਬਾਵਲਿ ਹੋਈ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਲੋਰਉ ॥ baaval hoiee so sahu lorau || ਤੇ ਝੱਲੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਖਸਮ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ I have gone insane, seeking my Husband Lord. ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਰੋਸੁ ॥ tai seh man meh keeaa ros || ਹੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੋਸ (ਮੇਰੀ ਇਸ ਭੈੜੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਬਾਰੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, O my Husband Lord, You are angry with me in Your Mind. ਮੁਝੁ ਅਵਗਨ ਸਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੋਸੁ ॥੧॥ mujh avagan seh naahee dhos ||1|| ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਔਗੁਣ ਸਨ, ਤਾਹੀਏਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਸਾ ਕੀਤਾ ।੧। The fault is with me, and not with my Husband Lord. ||1|| ਤੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ tai saahib kee mai saar na jaanee || ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਿਕ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਤੀ, O my Lord and Master, I do not know Your excellence and worth. ਜੋਬਨੁ ਖੋਇ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ joban khoi paachhai pachhutaanee ||1|| rahaau || ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਝੁਰ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ Having wasted my youth, now I come to regret and repent. ||1||Pause|| ਕਾਲੀ ਕੋਇਲ ਤੂ ਕਿਤ ਗੁਨ ਕਾਲੀ ॥ kaalee koil too kit gun kaalee || (ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਇਲ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ—) ਹੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਕੋਇਲ! ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਰੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹਾਂ ਹੀ) ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਾਲੀ (ਹੋ ਗਈ) ਹੈਂ? O black bird, what qualities have made you black? ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਬਿਰਹੈ ਜਾਲੀ ॥ apane preetam ke hau birahai jaalee || (ਕੋਇਲ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਨੇ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । "I have been burnt by separation from my Beloved." ਪਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ pireh bihoon kateh sukh paae || (ਠੀਕ ਹੈ) ਖਸਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਕਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ? Without her Husband Lord, how can the soul-bride ever find peace? ਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥ jaa hoi kirapaal taa prabhoo milaae ||2|| (ਪਰ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ) ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨। When He becomes merciful, then God unites us with Himself. ||2|| ਵਿਧਣ ਖੂਹੀ ਮੁੰਧ ਇਕੇਲੀ ॥ vidhan khoohee mu(n)dh ikelee || (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਰੂਪ) ਡਰਾਉਣੀ ਖੂਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਇਕੱਲੀ (ਡਿੱਗੀ ਪਈ ਸਾਂ) The lonely soul-bride suffers in the pit of the world. ਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ॥ naa ko saathee naa ko belee || (ਇਥੇ) ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ । She has no companions, and no friends. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲੀ ॥ kar kirapaa prabh saadhasa(n)g melee || ਹੁਣ ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, In His Mercy, God has united me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਲਹੁ ਬੇਲੀ ॥੩॥ jaa fir dhekhaa taa meraa alahu belee ||3|| (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ) ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਰੱਬ ਬੇਲੀ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੩। And when I look again, then I find God as my Helper. ||3|| ਵਾਟ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਖਰੀ ਉਡੀਣੀ ॥ vaaT hamaaree kharee auddeenee || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸਾਡਾ ਇਹ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਬੜਾ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਹੈ, The path upon which I must walk is very depressing. ਖੰਨਿਅਹੁ ਤਿਖੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਈਣੀ ॥ kha(n)niahu tikhee bahut pieenee || ਖੰਡੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਹੈ, ਬੜੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਧਾਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ; It is sharper than a two-edged sword, and very narrow. ਉਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੈ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ aus uoopar hai maarag meraa || ਇਸ ਦੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਅਸਾਂ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਹੈ । That is where my path lies. ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ sekh fareedhaa pa(n)th sam(h)aar saveraa ||4||1|| ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਸਵੇਰੇ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਰਸਤਾ ਸੰਭਾਲ ।੪।੧। O Shaykh Fareed, think of that path early on. ||4||1|| Bhagat Sheikh Fareed Ji in Raag Soohee - 794

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pauRee || Pauree: ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਗਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ har naam hamaaraa prabh abigat agochar abinaasee purakh bidhaataa || ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਡਾ (ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈ The Lord's Name is my immortal, unfathomable, imperishable Creator Lord, the Architect of Destiny. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮ ਸ੍ਰੇਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮ ਪੂਜਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ har naam ham sreveh har naam ham poojeh har naame hee man raataa || ਅਸੀ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਂਵਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਨ ਰੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । I serve the Lord's Name, I worship the Lord's Name, and my soul is imbued with the Lord's Name. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਕੋਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਅੰਤਿ ਛਡਾਤਾ ॥ har naamai jevadd koiee avar na soojhai har naamo a(n)t chhaddaataa || ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਜੇਡਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਛਡਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ । I know of no other as great as the Lord's Name; the Lord's Name shall deliver me in the end. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥ har naam dheeaa gur paraupakaaree dhan dha(n)n guroo kaa pitaa maataa || ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ, ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ । The Generous Guru has given me the Lord's Name; blessed, blessed are the Guru's mother and father. ਹੰਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਣੇ ਕੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੈ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੧੬॥ ha(n)au satigur apune ka(n)au sadhaa namasakaaree jit miliaai har naam mai jaataa ||16|| ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪਈ ਹੈ ।੧੬। I ever bow in humble reverence to my True Guru; meeting Him, I have come to know the Lord's Name. ||16|| Guru Amar Daas Ji in Raag Vadhans - 592,593

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ soratt mahalaa panjavaa || Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla: ਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ gur apune balihaaree || ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ I am a sacrifice to my Guru. ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ jin pooran paij savaaree || ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ He has totally preserved my honor. ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ man chi(n)dhiaa fal paiaa || ਉਹ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires. ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ prabh apunaa sadhaa dhiaaiaa ||1|| ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਹੈ I meditate forever on my God. ||1|| ਸੰਤਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ sa(n)tahu tis bin avar na koiee || ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਰਾਖਾ) ਨਹੀਂ O Saints, without Him, there is no other at all. ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ karan kaaran prabh soiee || rahaau || ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ He is God, the Cause of causes. ||Pause|| ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਵਰ ਦੀਨੇ ॥ prabh apanai var dheene || ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਭ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ, My God has given me His Blessing. ਸਗਲ ਜੀਅ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਨੇ ॥ sagal jeea vas keene || ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । He has made all creatures subject to me. ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ jan naanak naam dhiaaiaa || ਜਦੋਂ ਭੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, ਤਾ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੫॥੬੯॥ taa sagale dhookh miTaiaa ||2||5||69|| ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਏ and all his sorrows depart. ||2||5||69|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Sorath - 626
