Film Actor Fusion
Podcast de Brandon Milligan
Every month we pick an actor, then we pick two movies that star that actor. We talk about both films ad nauseum, then finally, we attempt to fuse them together and create a coherent script. Does it always work? No. But if anyone can do it, it's married couple Julian and Diana Gaytan and their esteemed producer Brandon Milligan. In amidst the fusions, which are usually our longest episodes, we also have 2 other shows sprinkled into the mix. FAF Singles, a single discussion about (normally) one film, and FAF Mortem, a single discussion on (normally) one film that has gore and violence.

Returning director, Henry Selick (Monkeybone, Nightmare Before Christmas) hits us this week with the spooky stop-motion, modern classic, Coraline. Adapted from the Neil Gaiman book of the same name, we follow a girl of the same name into the perfect reality she'd always dreamed of. But with all perfection, usually comes a heavy price. In Coraline's case, perfection might just cost her her soul. Ooooohhhhh *waggles fingers all spookily* --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app [https://anchor.fm/app]

This month we finally talk about America's Sweetheart, Sandra Bullock. Not to be confused with America's Other Sweetheart, Brendan Fraser. You can tell them apart by seeing that they are two entirely different people. We cover 1995's wholesome, holiday comedy, While You Were Sleeping and 2007's sad trainwreck, Premonition. It's dumb, but luckily, it's also needlessly confusing! Listen as we put the puzzle pieces together to fabricate a script worthy of Sandy, and While You Were Sleeping's breakout star, Joe Jr. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app [https://anchor.fm/app]

This time around, we discuss the 2012 action cult hit, Dredd. It's the directorial debut for now notable director, Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Devs), and what a debut it is. It's corny, it's violent, it's style is unapologetic and confident, and above all else, it's use of slow-mo might be the most appropriate implementation in any movie ever. It's one of Brandon's favorite action movies, so he couldn't help but prattle on about it for a while. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app [https://anchor.fm/app]

Another bloody double feature, and no, I'm not British. *Pause for laughter* This time around, we dimmed the lights and put on some Burt Bacharach because we get romantic with Park Chan Wook's vampire love story, Thirst. After that, we take a trip to the old west to save a damsel in distress from a tribe of cannibalistic troglodytes in S. Craig Zahler's, Bone Tomahawk. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app [https://anchor.fm/app]

We made it to the dirty 30's! Rarely do we get a competent sequel to a slasher film almost 30 years after the original, but that seems to be the hot thing to do lately. People like to say that movies like 1992's Candyman are more relevant now than ever, but the truth of the matter is, things just haven't changed much in the last 30 years. That's why getting a reboot makes so much sense. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app [https://anchor.fm/app]
