Can You Ignore The Gospel

Are You on A Cruise Ship Or A Rescue Ship

You can believe the gospel and still go quiet about it, but Scripture won’t let us treat silence as neutral. We close out our “Understanding God’s Work in Us” series with a direct, personal challenge: God entrusts redeemed people with the word of reconciliation, and that means the message can’t stay private. We talk about what the gospel actually is, why it’s more than religious advice, and why it deserves clarity, courage, and love when we share it. We lean into a striking identity from 2 Corinthians 5: we are ambassadors for Christ. That lands in everyday places, how we represent Jesus to our families, friends, coworkers, classmates, and even strangers. Evangelism isn’t framed as winning debates or showing off theology. It’s a heartfelt plea, “Be reconciled to God,” because eternity is on the line. We also slow down on one of the clearest summaries of salvation in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:21, and unpack the great exchange: Jesus takes our sin, and we receive His righteousness. Then we zoom out to the church’s mission. Matthew 28 isn’t the “great suggestion” but the Great Commission, grounded in Jesus’ total authority and empowered by His promised presence: “I am with you always.” Disciple making includes sharing the gospel, baptizing new believers, and teaching obedience, and it starts right where you live. Why Speak Up About Jesus At All?

Awkward conversations. Fear of rejection. A culture that tells you to stay quiet. So why speak up about Jesus at all? We walk straight into that tension and let Scripture answer with clarity: we share the gospel because we have been saved. Not out of guilt, not to win arguments, and not to polish a religious image, but out of gratitude for grace. We open 2 Corinthians 5:17–21 to unpack what God actually does in salvation: He makes us a new creation, restores a broken relationship, and removes real guilt through Christ. Reconciliation is not us climbing our way back to God. The gospel is God coming to us in Jesus, taking our sin seriously, and justifying sinners by faith. What does Jesus say a Genuine Follower Looks Like?

Plenty of people can explain why they think they’re a Christian, but far fewer can answer the question Jesus presses: will you follow Me on My terms? Why Your Church Must Keep The Gospel At The Center

If a church can have great music, a full calendar, and polished programs yet still feel spiritually hollow, what’s missing? We go straight to Romans 1:16-17 to name the “why” that keeps a congregation alive: the gospel of Jesus Christ at the center, not as one topic among many, but as the message that shapes everything we do. We talk through Paul’s shocking line, “I am not ashamed of the gospel,” and why that kind of courage is difficult in any era. The gospel confronts sin, humbles pride, and refuses to be reshaped into something more socially acceptable. We also draw a clear line between boldness and obnoxiousness. The call is simple but costly: don’t hide the message, don’t water it down, and don’t replace it with self-help, tradition, or entertainment. From there, we lean into why Paul is so confident. The gospel is “the power of God to salvation,” not a message that needs upgrades or added human strength. The Free Gift That Costs Everything

Grace can sound gentle and vague until you stare at what it cost. We open Ephesians 1 and talk about the kind of grace that isn’t sentimental, because Jesus doesn’t dismiss sin and move on. He pays for it in his own blood. That single truth reframes everything: forgiveness is real, worship is warranted, and the Christian life stops being self-improvement and becomes gratitude with a backbone. From there, we trace how God’s grace overflows with wisdom and purpose. Salvation doesn’t just cancel an impossible debt, it deposits riches you could never earn: adoption, redemption, and every blessing in Christ. We also lean into the repeated aim of the passage, “to the praise of his glory,” and ask the uncomfortable but necessary question: if we were saved to reflect God’s glory here and now, what does our daily life actually say about him? We then move into assurance of salvation and the role of the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 1:13–14. The gospel comes through hearing the word of truth and believing, not through rituals, tradition, or vague spirituality. And when we believe, God seals us with the Holy Spirit, marking us as his and giving a guarantee, a down payment, that full redemption is coming.
