We’ve talked the remake, we’ve talked the sequel, but tonight, it’s time to talk about the start of it all, the one and only FRIGHT NIGHT (1985). Recorded in person at Creature Feature Weekend 2025, we went back to the beginning to fawn over sexy vampires and some seriously amazing transformations. We’re all toothy smiles and bloodthirsty intent as we say nothing but good things about a movie that deserves all the praise it’s gotten for the last 40 years. A later entry into the legendary George Romero’s filmography? There is no way this could be anything less than a masterpiece… This week, Kyle subjected us to 2000’s head-scratchingly-titled BRUISER, in which a meek magazine editor gets a chance to knock off everyone who has ever inconvenienced him thanks to his crappy boss’s wife and her low-level mask-making skills. While the movie itself isn’t great, it took us on a real journey discussing the underlying social issues it tried to comment on. Was it successful? We love tiny terrors so much on this show that we could barely wait to discuss another classic, 1985’s GHOULIES! While perhaps slightly less bombastic as the sequel, the original entry in the Ghoulies franchise is still full of delightfully absurd moments and a ton of pint-sized pain. We may have had to wait until the next installment to see a Ghoulie eat a dude’s ass, but it was perfectly foreshadowed with its predecessor, so let’s show the OG some respect for its 40th birthday or the little butt-munchers will finally get us.
