Do you struggle with anxiety? Well, not many people in the world understand what you’re going through like I do. Mitch Morton is my name. I’m a former pro athlete, from down under in Australia, and I’m the founder of the Mr Anxiety project. I started this project so I could show people how I beat the crippling anxiety that ran my life for 15 years. In this daily 15-minute podcast, I'm going to give you tips for controlling anxiety, I'll tell stories about what anxiety did to my life and I'll also share how I’m rebuilding my life after bouncing back from rock bottom in 2018 Insta:@mranxiety_aus

Today’s episode is my last for 7 days as I am having a 1-week break, my first in years. I speak about how you can apply my system for dealing with anxiety in your life over the next week to improve the way you react to something that makes you anxious. I use multiple examples of ways I’ve applied the system and we also make one up. Enjoy the next week and see you again soon

Today I break down a quote by famous trauma psychiatrist Dr Bessell van der Kolk about recovering from anxiety. I look at how I’ve applied it to my life to deal with the big situations that used to make me anxious and how that’s fed through to other aspects of my life. If you have performance anxiety then I think you’ll enjoy today’s episode. We finish with a humming activity that you can use anytime to get out of your head and back into the body

Do you try to make yourself happy through individualistic or selfish means? Does it not work? Well today I speak about micro v macro happiness and what I learnt from a men’s circle group that I attended recently! I speak about how we can make ourselves happy by focusing on others more so than ourselves. I have a study from Harvard University that backs this up. As always we finish with an activity that you can use to calm yourself throughout the day

Today we speak more about what we’re trying to achieve by reprogramming our reaction to situations. If you get anxious before performances then today’s episodes speaks about how to recondition yourself for that using the method I use. I share a question I had last night at a talk I did to a sports club and then we finish with a face scan activity that’s great to do before bed at night

Do you think it would be worth sacrificing your life to strive for a gold medal? Would you miss catch-ups with family and friends to train everyday for 4 years? With the Olympics on tv at the moment it’s a great time to question whether the sacrifices we make in life to achieve greatness is worth it or not? We breakdown a great quote from Adam Smith from the 1700’s which perfectly sums up the answer to this question! We finish with a humming activity that you can do throughout the day to calm anxiety
