Day 183 — "The God Who Sees" 📖 2 Kings 6 Have you ever felt surrounded by problems with no way out? That's exactly how Elisha's servant felt when he woke up to find an enemy army surrounding the city. Fear overwhelmed him because all he could see was the opposition. But Elisha prayed one simple prayer: "O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see." (2 Kings 6:17) In an instant, God pulled back the curtain on spiritual reality. The mountains were filled with horses and chariots of fire—the armies of heaven had been there all along. The lesson is just as true today: What you can see is not all there is. God is working even when you cannot see Him. This chapter also reminds us that God cares about the ordinary details of our lives. Before the heavenly army appears, God performs a miracle by causing a borrowed axe head to float. Why? Because nothing is too small to matter to our Heavenly Father. Key Takeaways: ✅ God cares about both the ordinary and the extraordinary. ✅ Fear focuses on the size of the problem; faith focuses on the greatness of God. ✅ God's presence is greater than any circumstance you face. ✅ The greatest victories are often won through God's mercy, not human strength. ✅ Jesus opens our spiritual eyes so we can trust Him, even when life doesn't make sense. No matter what you're facing today, remember this: You may feel surrounded, but as a child of God, you are never abandoned. The God who surrounded Elisha is the same God who walks with you today. > "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." — 2 Kings 6:16 🎧 Listen now to Day 183 of The Story of Scripture with Pastor John and be encouraged to see your circumstances through the eyes of faith instead of fear. #TheStoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #2Kings6 #FaithOverFear #GodWhoSees #TrustGod #GodsPresence #BibleReading #DailyDevotional #ChristianLiving #HopeInChrist #WalkByFaith #JesusChrist Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

DOUBLE PORTION — Episode 10: "Room for God"

DOUBLE PORTION — Episode 10: "Room for God" What do you do when it feels like God's promises have died? In this week's episode of Double Portion, we walk through one of the most powerful miracles in Scripture—the raising of the Shunammite woman's son in 2 Kings 4:8–37. This isn't just a story about resurrection. It's a story about quiet faithfulness, painful disappointment, and learning to trust God when His plans don't make sense. The big truth: Faith trusts God even when His promises seem dead. In this episode, we'll discover: 🏡 Why the miracle began with a simple room prepared for God. 🙏 How faith responds when life brings heartbreaking disappointment. ⏳ Why God's delays are never His denials. ✝️ How this miracle points us to Jesus Christ—the One who conquered death forever. One of the most beautiful lessons from this passage is that the Shunammite woman placed her greatest sorrow in the very room she had prepared for God's presence. She teaches us that faith doesn't ignore pain—it brings pain to the Lord. If you're waiting on God... If you're carrying unanswered prayers... If a dream, relationship, ministry, or season of life feels beyond hope... This episode is for you. Remember: The God who brings life from death has not changed. Sometimes the greatest miracles begin with something as ordinary as making room for Him. 🎧 Listen today, and be encouraged to trust God's perfect timing and His unfailing promises. Day 197 — "A Warning Ignored"

Day 197 — "A Warning Ignored" 📍2 Kings 20 Success can be just as dangerous as suffering. King Hezekiah experienced incredible victories. God healed him from a terminal illness, added fifteen years to his life, and even performed a miracle by turning back the shadow on the sundial. But after all God had done, Hezekiah made a tragic mistake—he began showcasing his own wealth instead of God's faithfulness. The greatest threat to our spiritual lives often isn't adversity—it's pride. When life is difficult, we naturally depend on God. But when life is going well, we can slowly begin believing that our success is the result of our own strength, wisdom, or ability. Pride quietly shifts our focus from the Giver to the gifts. Today's Challenge: • Thank God for every blessing instead of assuming you earned it. • Give God the glory for every success in your life. • Live with the next generation in mind, leaving behind a legacy of faith rather than a reputation of achievement. Key Truth: God can bless us with success, but only humility allows us to steward it well. "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." — James 4:6 May everything we accomplish point people to Christ—not to ourselves. #TheStoryOfScripture #2Kings20 #PastorJohn #BibleReadingPlan #Humility #Faith #TrustGod #ChristianLiving #Legacy #GiveGodTheGlory Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Day 196 — "God Defends His Name"

Day 196 — "God Defends His Name" 📍 2 Kings 19 When King Hezekiah faced the most powerful army in the world, he didn't place his confidence in military strength or human strategy—he took his burden to the Lord. In 2 Kings 19, we are reminded that our greatest battles are won not by our power, but by God's. The Assyrian army surrounded Jerusalem with overwhelming force, yet God demonstrated that no enemy is greater than His sovereign power. 🔹 Key Takeaways: • Bring every burden to God in prayer before looking anywhere else. • God's promises give us peace even before our circumstances change. • The ultimate purpose of God's deliverance is His glory. • No obstacle is too great for the God who rules over heaven and earth. • Faith grows when we trust God's character more than our circumstances. One of the most powerful moments in the chapter is when Hezekiah spreads the enemy's threatening letter before the Lord. Instead of surrendering to fear, he surrendered his problem to God. That same invitation is ours today. Whatever battle you're facing—whether it's fear, uncertainty, broken relationships, financial pressure, illness, or unanswered questions—bring it before the Lord. He is still the God who hears, the God who answers, and the God who defends His name. Most importantly, this chapter points us to Jesus Christ, our greater King. Where Hezekiah interceded for Jerusalem, Jesus intercedes for us. Through His death and resurrection, He defeated our greatest enemies—sin, death, and Satan—and secured an eternal victory for all who trust in Him. 💬 Remember: "The safest place to leave your greatest burden is at the feet of the God who has never lost a battle." 🎧 If today's episode encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded that God is still in control, and He is always faithful to His promises. #TheStoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #2Kings19 #GodDefendsHisName #TrustTheLord #FaithOverFear #PrayerChangesThings #JesusIsKing #GodIsFaithful #BibleTeaching #DailyDevotion #HopeInChrist Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

DOUBLE PORTION – Episode 9: EMPTY VESSELS

DOUBLE PORTION – Episode 9: EMPTY VESSELS Sometimes we look at our lives and think, "I don't have enough." Not enough strength. Not enough resources. Not enough faith. Not enough answers. That is exactly where the widow found herself in 2 Kings 4:1–7. A mountain of debt. An uncertain future. One small jar of oil. Yet God didn't ask her for what she didn't have. He asked her to surrender what she did have. As she obeyed in faith, God multiplied what seemed insignificant into more than enough. The miracle wasn't just about oil—it was about trusting the God whose provision never runs dry. In this episode of Double Portion, we'll discover: 🫙 Bring God what you have. 🫙 Faith makes room for miracles. 🫙 God works through simple obedience. The Big Truth: God fills what we surrender. If you're walking through a season of uncertainty, financial pressure, loss, or simply wondering how God is going to provide, this episode is for you. The same God who filled every empty vessel is still the God who meets every need according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. "Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest." — 2 Kings 4:7 (ESV) 🎧 Listen today, and be encouraged that God's supply is never limited by your circumstances. #DoublePortion #PastorJohn #2Kings #Elisha #BiblicalTruth #Faith #Miracles #GodProvides #ChristianPodcast #BibleTeaching #TrustGod #Surrender #WalkingByFaith #ConservativeTheology #JesusChrist Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]

Day 195 — "Trusting the Lord"

Day 195 — "Trusting the Lord" 📍 2 Kings 18 Every generation faces its own "Assyria"—those overwhelming circumstances that seem impossible to overcome. In today's episode, we looked at the life of King Hezekiah and discovered that true faith isn't believing life will be easy; it's believing that God is greater than whatever stands against us. 🔹 Key Takeaways: • Revival begins when we remove the idols that compete for God's throne. • Trust in God produces courage when fear surrounds us. • The enemy's greatest weapon is often doubt—but God's character silences every lie. • Faith isn't about having all the answers; it's about knowing the One who does. • The size of your obstacle never changes the greatness of your God. Hezekiah refused to compromise, held fast to the Lord, and trusted Him when the odds seemed impossible. His life reminds us that God's people don't measure the future by circumstances—we measure it by the power and faithfulness of our God. Most importantly, Hezekiah points us to the greater King, Jesus Christ. Where every earthly king eventually failed, Jesus trusted the Father perfectly. Because He remained faithful, we can confidently place our lives in His hands. Remember today: "Fear grows when we magnify our problems. Faith grows when we magnify our God." No matter what "Assyria" you're facing today, the Lord is still your refuge, your strength, and your Deliverer. 🎧 If today's episode encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded that God is worthy of their trust. #TheStoryOfScripture #PastorJohn #2Kings18 #TrustTheLord #FaithOverFear #Hezekiah #BibleTeaching #WalkByFaith #JesusIsKing #GodIsFaithful #DailyBibleReading #ChristianLiving Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2082142/support]
