Descripción

Your rights do not come from Washington. They do not come from Congress, the courts, or the White House. Justice Clarence Thomas made that clear in a powerful lecture at the University of Texas, and it cuts straight to the heart of the question behind Restoring America: what are we actually restoring America to? In this episode, I react to Thomas’s speech on the Declaration of Independence, God-given rights, the purpose of government, progressivism, courage, and the founding principles America must recover as we approach our 250th year. This is not just a history lesson. It is a challenge to every American, and especially to leaders who claim to defend liberty while compromising the principles that made this country worth preserving.

Episode 72: They Are Cutting God From Kids' History Books And It's No Accident.

A new Brave Books study found libraries and publishers are scrubbing Christianity from kids' reading lists built for America's 250th birthday. Not one book about faith, religious liberty, or Christianity's role in the founding made the cut. In this episode, I break down what the study found and why an omission this complete is no accident. The same lists found room for the 1619 Project and transgender activism. I walk through the history being erased, from John Adams to the Bible verse on the Liberty Bell, plus the American Library Association's role and the fight over Bibles and the Ten Commandments in schools. You can't tell America's founding story without the Christian faith. This 250th year, make sure the kids in your life hear the real one.

Episode 68: Your Taxes Today are WAY WORSE Than What The Founders Protested

The founders went to war over taxes far lighter than what leaves your paycheck today. So how did a country built on "no taxation without representation" end up with a tax system this BIG? How did spending become so high and widespread? In this episode, I dive into the establishment of the federal income tax from 1913, when the top rate was just 7% and the whole thing was sold as temporary, up to the 73% and 94% rates that came later under Woodrow Wilson and FDR. I get into what Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan understood about property and freedom, why a heavy progressive income tax is actually the second plank of the Communist Manifesto, and why Reagan called endless government growth "creeping socialism." 250 years in, this is a conversation we can't afford to stop having.
