Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2436048/fan_mail/new] For the last couple of years this channel explored religion, skepticism, counter-apologetics, Gen X culture, trucking stories, and the strange circus we call internet life. But somewhere along the way, I realized I was spending more time talking about outrage than the things I actually love. This video explains why I’m stepping away from the YouTube atheist community, why recent events forced me to reevaluate where I belong, and why I’m rebranding the channel into something more honest, creative, and human. Moving forward, this channel will become: 🚛 Gen X Trucking with the Mighty Philbert We’ll be focusing on: Gen X memories & nostalgia Trucking culture & industry commentary Stories from the road Roadside America Humor, sarcasm, and observational commentary Music, movies, and the weirdness of growing up Gen X Modern life through the eyes of a truck driver who still remembers paper maps and cassette tapes This isn’t about bitterness. It’s about choosing a healthier direction creatively and personally. If you’ve been here for the journey so far: thank you. And if you want to ride shotgun into this next chapter... Welcome aboard. #GenX  #GenXNostalgia #TheMightyPhilbert

S03E03 Trucking - Livestreams - and Distracted Driving

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2436048/fan_mail/new] Remember when the most distracting thing in a truck was trying to tune in a radio station? Today, some drivers are livestreaming, reading comments, responding to viewers, and creating content while rolling down the highway. In this episode of Gen X Trucking with the Mighty Philbert, we take a humorous but honest look at distracted driving, social media, livestream culture, and why common sense may be disappearing faster than a pay phone. We'll discuss what the law actually says, the difference between recording and livestreaming, distracted-driving statistics, real-world examples, and why operating an 80,000-pound truck while hosting a talk show might not be the greatest idea. This isn't about judging anybody. It's a conversation between drivers about safety, responsibility, and maybe remembering that the internet can wait. #GenXTrucking #TruckingLife #CDLDriver #TruckDriver #TruckingCommunity #DistractedDriving #Livestreaming #TheMightyPhilbert #TruckingSafety #TruckerLife

S03E02 When Trucking was King

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2436048/fan_mail/new] There was a time when trucking felt different. The trucks weren't as comfortable. The technology wasn't nearly as advanced. Drivers relied on paper maps, CB radios, and experience rather than satellites and screens. But many drivers will tell you there was something special about life on the road back then. In this episode of Gen X Trucking with The Mighty Philbert, we take a look at the Motor Carrier Act of 1980 and how it transformed the trucking industry forever. We'll explore the rise of trucking culture in the 1970s, the deregulation era, falling freight rates, changing driver pay, and the growing pressures that modern drivers face. This isn't a story about whether the old days were perfect. It's a story about what changed, what was gained, what was lost, and whether the trade was worth it. If you're a truck driver, a Gen Xer, or simply someone interested in how America has changed over the last fifty years, this episode is for you. What do you think? Was trucking better then, better now, or somewhere in between? Let me know in the comments. #GenXTrucking #TruckingHistory #TruckDriverLife #MotorCarrierAct #TruckingThenAndNow #OwnerOperator #CDLlife #AmericanTrucking #GenX #TheMightyPhilbert

S03E01 The America We Lost

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2436048/fan_mail/new] Remember when truckers were the last American cowboys? Before GPS, before ELDs, before smartphones, before every mile of the interstate looked exactly the same, there was a different kind of road culture. In the 1970s, convoy culture exploded across America. CB radios became a national obsession. Truck drivers became folk heroes. And movies like Smokey & the Bandit captured an America that felt bigger, freer, and a whole lot more unpredictable. In this episode, we take a ride back through: The CB radio craze Smokey & the Bandit The rise of the trucker as American folk hero Roadside America Why Gen X still feels nostalgic for this era What we've gained—and lost—since then This isn't just a movie discussion. It's a look back at a version of America that many of us remember and wonder if we'll ever see again. So grab a cup of coffee, climb in the passenger seat, and let's take one more run with the Bandit. 🚛🌅 #GenXTrucking [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/genxtrucking] #SmokeyAndTheBandit [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/smokeyandthebandit] #ConvoyCulture [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/convoyculture] #CBRadio [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/cbradio] #TruckingHistory [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/truckinghistory] #GenX [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/genx] #RoadsideAmerica [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/roadsideamerica] #TruckLife [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/trucklife] #Americana [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/americana] #TheMightyPhilbert [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/themightyphilbert]
