Descripción

Human beings have always lived through stories. Long before movies and social media, myths and epic poems helped people understand suffering, purpose, virtue, and what it meant to live a meaningful life. But somewhere along the way, something changed. In this episode of Thought Atlas, I’m joined by Peter Gunn—a 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran, bodybuilder, guitarist, poet, and creator on a mission to revive epic poetry for a modern generation. After a childhood marked by obesity, a near-death experience at age seven, and two decades of military service, Peter turned toward storytelling, creating new myths through poetry, graphic novels, and music. Inspired by the birth of his daughter, he began exploring how ancient stories could be reimagined for today’s world—and why the hero’s journey deserves new voices and perspectives. We explore: • Why humans need stories• The role mythology plays in meaning• A near-death experience at age seven• Overcoming obesity and transformation• Twenty years in the Air Force• Why epic poetry disappeared from culture• Becoming a father and rethinking stories• Why the hero’s journey needs feminine perspectives• Linked-Lyrical Poetry and symbolic storytelling• Whether stories enlighten or manipulate• Why modern people need new myths This is not simply a conversation about books or poetry. It’s an exploration of myth, imagination, symbolism, and the stories that quietly shape human beings. The deeper question beneath this conversation: What happens when a culture loses its myths—and who are we without stories? 🌍 Thought Atlas: https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas [https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas] 🌍 Peter Gunn: https://petergunn.net [https://petergunn.net/] 🎸 The AngellicS:Explore their latest album, Elysium Feels, and Peter’s creative projects at his website.

Most Creators Burn Out for One Simple Reason | Russell Nohelty

What if the reason so many creative people burn out isn’t because they lack discipline… but because they’re following systems that were never designed for them? In this episode of Thought Atlas, I’m joined by USA Today bestselling author, entrepreneur, publisher, and creative strategist Russell Nohelty. After writing more than 45 books, building multiple businesses, raising millions through crowdfunding, and experiencing burnout more than once, Russell reached a surprising conclusion: Most advice about business and success assumes everyone works the same way. We don’t. That realization led him to develop Frictionless Growth—a framework built around aligning your work with your personality, psychology, energy, and natural strengths instead of forcing yourself into someone else’s blueprint. Together, we explore: * Why talented creators burn out * The myth of hustle culture * Frictionless Growth * Personality and business * Creativity and entrepreneurship * Sustainable success * Money and fulfillment * Reinvention after failure * Publishing and creative careers * Building a life that fits who you are This isn’t simply a conversation about writing or entrepreneurship. It’s a conversation about designing a life and business that work with you instead of constantly against you. 🌍 Thought Atlas https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas [https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas] 🌍 Russell Nohelty https://dl.bookfunnel.com/cvj43sfw2c [https://dl.bookfunnel.com/cvj43sfw2c] 📘 Free Resource https://dl.bookfunnel.com/cvj43sfw2c [https://dl.bookfunnel.com/cvj43sfw2c] Download Russell’s free resource and explore his ideas on creative entrepreneurship, publishing, and Frictionless Growth. Because maybe success isn’t supposed to feel like constant resistance. Maybe the goal is to build something that fits who you already are.

The Leadership Mistake Almost Everyone Makes | Pamela Marion

What if the biggest leadership problem isn’t poor strategy… What if it’s the person in the mirror? In this episode of Thought Atlas, I’m joined by Pamela Marion—leadership strategist, executive advisor, speaker, and founder of Big Paw CX, where CX stands for Clarity and Execution. After more than 30 years leading inside complex enterprise organizations, Pamela came to one conclusion: Most organizational problems don’t begin with strategy. They begin with leadership. Through her Mirror Leadership Framework, Pamela challenges leaders to stop looking outward first and begin by examining themselves—because trust, communication, accountability, and healthy culture all grow from self-awareness. Together, we explore: * Why leadership begins with the mirror * Radical self-awareness * Communication and accountability * Building trust inside organizations * Why culture reflects leadership * The hidden cost of poor leadership * Ownership versus blame * Leading with authenticity * How leaders create high-performing teams * Why changing yourself changes your organization This isn’t simply a conversation about management. It’s an exploration of character, responsibility, and why the quality of every organization is ultimately limited by the quality of its leadership. 🌍 Thought Atlas https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas [https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas] 🌍 Pamela Marion https://bigpawcx.net/leader-mirror [https://bigpawcx.net/leader-mirror] 📘 The Leader Mirror https://bigpawcx.net/leader-mirror [https://bigpawcx.net/leader-mirror] If today’s conversation resonated with you, explore Pamela’s Leader Mirror framework and discover why the most important leadership conversation you’ll ever have begins with yourself. Because before we can transform organizations… we have to face the person staring back at us.

Why Democracy Is Failing—And It’s Not Because of Politics | Dr. Raymond R. Roberts

Across the world, trust in institutions is weakening, political polarization is deepening, and many people are beginning to wonder whether democracy itself can survive. But according to Dr. Raymond R. Roberts, the crisis we’re experiencing isn’t merely political. It’s moral. It’s spiritual. And it’s cultural. In this episode of Thought Atlas, I’m joined by pastor, ethicist, professor, author, and musician Dr. Raymond R. Roberts. After forty years in ministry and now teaching ethics at the University of Richmond, Dr. Roberts has spent decades exploring the deeper beliefs that sustain healthy societies. His latest book, A Democratic and Republican Faith, argues that democracy depends on much more than laws and elections—it depends on trust, human dignity, moral imagination, and a shared commitment to the common good. Together, we explore: • Why democracy is struggling around the world • The hidden foundations of free societies • Human dignity and moral imagination • Trust and polarization • Faith and public life • Why institutions are losing credibility • The relationship between ethics and democracy • Individualism and the common good • What history teaches us about social decline • Why hope still matters This isn’t a conversation about partisan politics. It’s a conversation about the values and beliefs that make civilization itself possible. 🌍 Thought Atlas https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas [https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas] 🌍 Dr. Raymond R. Life Kept Knocking Her Down—She Refused to Stay There | Zulma Williams

What happens when life knocks you down again and again? Abusive relationships. Depression. Immigration. Reinvention. Cancer. And somehow, instead of becoming bitter, you become stronger. In this episode of Thought Atlas, I’m joined by Zulma Williams—licensed clinical social worker, founder of Dragonfly Therapy Services, podcast host, speaker, breast cancer survivor, and the unapologetically authentic voice behind The Swearing Therapist. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Zulma moved to the United States at 31 and began rebuilding her life from scratch. At 42, while working in accounting, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a therapist. Four years later, shortly after graduating, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. That experience changed everything. Together, we explore: • Reinvention after 40 • Immigration and identity • Depression and emotional survival • Abusive relationships • Breast cancer and resilience • Therapy and healing • Authenticity and self-worth • Why vulnerability matters • Finding purpose through suffering • Discovering the warrior within This isn’t simply a conversation about mental health. It’s a conversation about what happens when life refuses to go according to plan—and how we can still choose who we become. 🌍 Thought Atlas https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas [https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas] 🌍 Zulma Williams | The Swearing Therapist https://www.instagram.com/theswearingtherapist [https://www.instagram.com/theswearingtherapist] If today’s conversation resonates with you, follow Zulma and her work helping people heal with honesty, humor, and compassion. He Looked Fine on the Outside—But Was Secretly Falling Apart | Mark Paisant

What if looking okay doesn’t mean you’re okay? In this episode of Thought Atlas, I’m joined by Mark Paisant—certified personal trainer, podcast host, mental health advocate, husband, and father. After struggling with anxiety, depression, body image, and self-worth throughout early adulthood, Mark lost more than 100 pounds and transformed his physical health. But he soon realized something many people discover too late: Physical fitness alone doesn’t heal emotional pain. Through therapy, mindfulness, and honest conversations, Mark learned that vulnerability isn’t weakness—and that true strength comes from asking for help rather than hiding behind perfection. Together, we explore: • High-functioning anxiety • ADHD and mental health • Depression and self-worth • Masculinity and vulnerability • Why men struggle to ask for help • Therapy and emotional healing • Fitness and identity • Fatherhood and responsibility • Body image and confidence • What it means to become stronger mentally and physically This isn’t simply a conversation about fitness. It’s a conversation about the invisible struggles so many people carry—and why nobody should have to fight them alone. 🌍 Thought Atlas https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas [https://joinpodmatch.com/thoughtatlas] 🌍 Mark Paisant https://www.marcpaisant.com/ [https://www.marcpaisant.com/] 🎙️ Relatively Normal Podcast https://www.marcpaisant.com/ [https://www.marcpaisant.com/] If today’s conversation resonates with you, explore Mark’s work and remember: Strength isn’t pretending everything is fine.
