Save Austin Now has officially handed those signatures over to the Austin city clerk as the petition requires the city of Austin to complete an external audit within a year of its passage, and to review its budget every five years, or no less than one year before the city of Austin asks voters for more money in a tax rate election, a new Texas law is adding tougher requirements for the companies behind operating driverless vehicles as senate bill 2807 imposes stricter rules on autonomous vehicle companies operating in the state, including state authorization, emergency response plans for law enforcement, and a public portal where residents can verify operators and file safety complaints, and new numbers from the city of Austin show the homeless population accounts for a significant share of all fatal auto-pedestrian crashes as the data shows 40-percent of the people who are hit by cars and die from their injuries are homeless.
