Welcome Back WoCos and Friends! In this episode of the pod, Crystal and Sariah wrap up the Anti-Police Violence Series. We cover how processing police violence and archiving them via the podcast has been a thoughtful and challenging experience. We reflect and process the lessons from our first interview with Carolyn Baker. Furthermore, we offer love letters to various forms of black media that have been bringing us love and libation in this time of change. We conclude with movement updates and visions for our liberatory future. We also give space for our name shift. We were formerly known as Womxn of Color Organizing Podcast. Originally we choose to include the “x” in Women to offer space for non-binary identities within our definition of Women. We want to make sure that our podcast name didn’t centralize cis-ness and included non-binary identities. We are evolving as movement language evolves, recently we have been discovering that this term (Womxn) has held negative connotations for some, and we instead will continue to use clear and specific language throughout our pod to name the identities we hold and invite in.
