Every time I opened my mouth he talked over me, cut me off, got louder — like volume was going to win the argument. The bartender had to step in. The manager had to step in. And me? I said what I needed to say. Calmly. Clearly. Once. Please stop talking to me. I'm done. That's it. No drama. No match to his energy. No explaining myself six different ways hoping he'd finally get it. I used to shrink in moments like that. I used to over-apologize, over-explain, over-function just to keep the peace. Not anymore. Tangible Things I Did to Get Help for Myself

In 2019 I decided I needed help. God led me to a 12-step meeting where He placed a woman who became my sponsor — someone who had walked through circumstances similar to mine. She gave me a daily assignment: practice gratitude and pray one simple prayer asking for God’s will for my life and the power to carry it out. What I didn’t know then was that I had been making other people my God. When I started that daily practice, things began to break apart so they could be rebuilt. This episode is short. On purpose.
