This week's Sips of the Week was a cozy coffee paired with an assortment of donuts from King Donuts and some absolutely incredible chocolate hazelnut-filled beignets. We kick things off by talking about the wild storms that rolled through overnight and had both of us waking up wondering if we had somehow ended up in the middle of a disaster movie. Then we dive right into M's spontaneous trip to Nashville for a concert! Along the way, we both learn what a hat trick actually is (spoiler: not what either of us thought). The concert recap leads us into a conversation about why you should absolutely support smaller artists when you can. Syd shares stories about watching artists like HonestAv and Evan Honer grow from small venues to opening for some of their favorite musicians, and we spend a little time appreciating talented people who also happen to be genuinely good humans. Of course, Syd takes us down a rabbit hole explaining the connections between MGK, HonestAv, Mod Sun, and basically everyone else in the music universe—just let her cook. We also uncover some interesting personal details about Syd and spend a questionable amount of time trying to determine whether she's weird or just uniquely herself. In true Chittin' and Chattin' fashion, we bounce from concert stories to a Louisville true crime case recently covered by Crime Junkie, talk about our boat day and rope swing adventures, and celebrate a huge gym win after Syd successfully bench pressed 115 pounds! For our Gay Fact of the Week, we're talking about the legendary Dykes on Bikes and the Litas biker group. So grab your favorite drink, settle in, and join us for another chaotic, cozy conversation full of music, storms, boats, biker history, and way too many tangents.

You Gotta Talk Me Through This...

This week's sips of the week were a much-needed two-parter: some de-stress tea that honestly revived our souls, followed by a shot of vodka mixed with Sydney's very first Bloom drink. Listen, we're bartenders and life has been life-ing lately, so we're just keeping it real with y'all. In honor of Pride Month, Sydney brings another fun Pride history fact to the table and explains why we say LGBTQ instead of the old GLBT acronym. Shoutout to @AcceptingUncleMurphy on TikTok for sending us down that rabbit hole! That conversation naturally led us to our movie of the week, Dallas Buyers Club, which had both of us crying before we even sat down to record. If you haven't watched it yet, consider this your sign—but fair warning, there are definitely spoilers ahead as we dive into our favorite scenes and what made the film so impactful. Our Spill It, Bestie segment this week is a healing one, featuring Sydney witnessing a man being a true ally in the wild. M also bites her cheek mid-episode, which somehow results in us taking another shot. As one does. We get into healing, nature bathing, natural sounds and vibrations, lowering cortisol levels, and finding ways to calm our overstimulated brains. Along the way, we laugh about the differences between being raised in Colorado versus Eastern Kentucky, show off our fresh new hair, discuss why life is actually a lot longer than it feels, and try to figure out whether Sydney's wild dreams are just proof that her brain never, ever clocks out. Grab a tea, a Bloom, or whatever is getting you through the week, and come chittin' and chattin' with us.

Happy Pride! We Love You in all Your Phases

Happy Pride Month, friends! 🌈💖 This week we're celebrating love, community, and the beautiful history behind Pride Month. Our Sips of the Week were boozy Sunset Sarsaparilla floats inspired by the Fallout universe (thank you, Costco), and honestly, they were as fun as they sound. We kick things off with some Pride history, including why Pride Month is celebrated in June and some of the hard-fought milestones in queer rights. A huge shoutout to Louisville creator @itskaylajaiden for inspiring our first fact of the episode! M shares her excitement about attending her very first Pride festival this year, while Syd takes a trip down memory lane and talks about her first Pride experience as a little baby 18-year-old. Along the way, we talk about why it's so difficult to understand the hate surrounding Pride when, at its core, Pride is simply about love. We share a few stories, discuss the importance of representation, and Syd tries to convince M that she absolutely must watch BOOTS on Netflix (bring tissues). We also have a heartfelt conversation about the reality that there are still people who wake up every day believing they'd be better off not being here than living as their authentic selves. If that's you, we want you to know that we love you, we're glad you're here, and the world is better with you in it. The episode wraps up with a conversation about loving ourselves and each other through every phase of life—much like our beloved moon, which is beautiful in every phase it goes through. And before we go: we're thinking about covering an unsolved true crime case in a future episode! If there's one you're dying to hear us discuss, send us your suggestions. Happy Pride, and thank you for being here. 🌈✨

The Other Day = 10 Years Ago

Sips of the week was a cozy coffee paired with M’s homemade muffin tin brownies with walnuts — which of course sent Syd into a story about her great aunt lovingly known as “Bessie Cracking Walnuts.” Naturally. We get into Syd’s obsession with her favorite little shop out of Maine, Mexicali Blues, and why she absolutely cannot be trusted on their online store for the sake of financial restraint. M dives into the meaning behind her new tattoo sleeve and all the beautiful details that symbolize getting her sparkle back, while Syd opens up about how someone can seem like they have it all together while life underneath feels harddd. We laugh about only getting rage baited by the people we love most and spiral into societal expectations, being unapologetically yourself, and somehow Syd accidentally dropping genuinely good advice: “whatever you have to give to the world, give it — and the right people will find it and appreciate it.” We also talk about being bartenders/therapists, M’s moon knowledge and crystal charging expertise, and Syd’s freaky intuition being on ten yet again. This episode is cozy, chaotic, honest, and cut a little short because we’re working gals and had to run. Love ya!!!

Bruised Tailbones and Healing Trauma Brains

Sips of the week were peanut butter iced coffees paired perfectly with chips and queso while our brains rode the absolute struggle bus. We dive into M’s trip back home to Colorado, Syd bruising her tailbone because of course she did, and why M is officially a big strong girl now. Syd’s husband also survived Sonic Temple (barely) and made it home with stories… including his car getting broken into hahaha. We get into bartender personalities, someone complimenting Syd’s microexpressions, and M becoming fully obsessed with her new earrings. From there, the episode takes a softer turn into our mini healing inbox where we talk about giving yourself grace, recognizing how far you’ve come, and learning to live with a healing trauma brain. M brings up the tarot card “4 of Wands,” we discuss the moon doing moon things, and Syd explains why she thought she was about to get sex trafficked at Waffle House. We also talk friendship bracelets for our little friend group, questioning your sexuality with an open mind, and how dangerous certain words can be—especially to a child. We end the episode talking about the beauty of having friendships where you can say your darkest or weirdest thoughts out loud and still feel loved, heard, and seen. As always, our healing inbox is open. Feel free to reach out to us on socials or by email. ♡
