We didn't even care about our Sips of the Week because we had the real Treat of the Week! M made the most incredible homemade peach cobbler using fresh peaches from a roadside stand, and honestly...it completely stole the show. We paired it with a classic brown sugar latte as we both continue our yearly transition into fall the second the Fourth of July is over. The bulk of today's episode is spent discussing the heartbreaking and still-developing case of 18-year-old Nolan Wells. After spending the Fourth of July on an island in Mississippi with friends, Nolan was reported missing by his mom that same night after those friends left the island without him and without notifying anyone. His body was found on the island two days later, and as of recording, many questions remain unanswered while we await autopsy results and more information. Sydney walks through the timeline, the strange details surrounding the case, and the similarities that have us asking even more questions as we tumble down another true crime rabbit hole together. Before we wrap up, Sydney gives everyone a very last-minute invitation to her and her hubby's island party (weather permitting, of course), and somehow that turns into a conversation about how difficult it is to build yourself up, chase your dreams, and start your own business without much support. We finish things off with a few more Real Life Realizations as we reflect on how much we've grown. Grab your favorite coffee, dessert, or both, and come chittin' and chattin' with us. 🤎

Stars, Stripes, Milkshakes, and Tangents

This week's Sips of the Week were inspired by 7 Brew! We took our favorite drinks, added some ice cream, and turned them into delicious milkshake concoctions that were so worth it. In the spirit of the 4th of July, we dive into some American history... and, as always, end up taking a few unexpected detours along the way. We learn why hot dogs became the unofficial food of Independence Day, where the famous hot dog eating contest came from, and chat about some of Syd's favorite travels to some pretty cool places. We also get into the absolutely wild dreams Syd has been having all week, and—perhaps the biggest milestone of the episode—we officially had our first legitimate cat appearance on the podcast! Grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and come hang out with us for another chaotic, cozy episode of Chittin' and Chattin'!

Two Sauce Queens and Their Quirks

This week's Sips of the Week was a refreshing passionfruit margarita while we welcomed the first day of summer with a little chat about paganism and the changing of the seasons. 🍹☀️ We wasted absolutely no time jumping into Spill It, Bestie, and WOW... this one was a doozy. The final verdict? Don't give the "nice guy" a chance just because he's nice—it might not be worth it. 😂 That conversation naturally snowballed into another Spill It, Bestie where we vent about people (mostly men... and narcissists 👀) who listen just to prepare their rebuttal instead of actually hearing someone else's perspective. We also talk about the beauty of true friendships—the kind where your bestie can lovingly point out the things you aren't seeing, and you trust them enough to actually listen. 💛 On a lighter note, Syd got a replacement wedding band for work and has officially become a silicone ring collector, rotating between what feels like eight different wedding bands depending on the day. She also casually drops that she's now bench pressing 115 pounds, so... everyone stay on your best behavior. 💪 M's cats make their first-ever (very brief) appearance on the podcast, and we discuss how one of them is... let's just say, incredibly unique. 😅 Naturally, we also end up ranking all of our favorite sauces because, as it turns out, we're both absolute sauce queens. To wrap up Pride Month, Syd brings one last round of LGBTQ+ facts, including some fascinating history from ancient Egypt and Greece. We also announce an upcoming episode about religious trauma, so if you'd like to share your story or experience, we'd love for you to write in. ❤️

Dykes on Bikes and Donuts

This week's Sips of the Week was a cozy coffee paired with an assortment of donuts from King Donuts and some absolutely incredible chocolate hazelnut-filled beignets. We kick things off by talking about the wild storms that rolled through overnight and had both of us waking up wondering if we had somehow ended up in the middle of a disaster movie. Then we dive right into M's spontaneous trip to Nashville for a concert! Along the way, we both learn what a hat trick actually is (spoiler: not what either of us thought). The concert recap leads us into a conversation about why you should absolutely support smaller artists when you can. Syd shares stories about watching artists like HonestAv and Evan Honer grow from small venues to opening for some of their favorite musicians, and we spend a little time appreciating talented people who also happen to be genuinely good humans. Of course, Syd takes us down a rabbit hole explaining the connections between MGK, HonestAv, Mod Sun, and basically everyone else in the music universe—just let her cook. We also uncover some interesting personal details about Syd and spend a questionable amount of time trying to determine whether she's weird or just uniquely herself. In true Chittin' and Chattin' fashion, we bounce from concert stories to a Louisville true crime case recently covered by Crime Junkie, talk about our boat day and rope swing adventures, and celebrate a huge gym win after Syd successfully bench pressed 115 pounds! For our Gay Fact of the Week, we're talking about the legendary Dykes on Bikes and the Litas biker group. So grab your favorite drink, settle in, and join us for another chaotic, cozy conversation full of music, storms, boats, biker history, and way too many tangents.

You Gotta Talk Me Through This...

This week's sips of the week were a much-needed two-parter: some de-stress tea that honestly revived our souls, followed by a shot of vodka mixed with Sydney's very first Bloom drink. Listen, we're bartenders and life has been life-ing lately, so we're just keeping it real with y'all. In honor of Pride Month, Sydney brings another fun Pride history fact to the table and explains why we say LGBTQ instead of the old GLBT acronym. Shoutout to @AcceptingUncleMurphy on TikTok for sending us down that rabbit hole! That conversation naturally led us to our movie of the week, Dallas Buyers Club, which had both of us crying before we even sat down to record. If you haven't watched it yet, consider this your sign—but fair warning, there are definitely spoilers ahead as we dive into our favorite scenes and what made the film so impactful. Our Spill It, Bestie segment this week is a healing one, featuring Sydney witnessing a man being a true ally in the wild. M also bites her cheek mid-episode, which somehow results in us taking another shot. As one does. We get into healing, nature bathing, natural sounds and vibrations, lowering cortisol levels, and finding ways to calm our overstimulated brains. Along the way, we laugh about the differences between being raised in Colorado versus Eastern Kentucky, show off our fresh new hair, discuss why life is actually a lot longer than it feels, and try to figure out whether Sydney's wild dreams are just proof that her brain never, ever clocks out. Grab a tea, a Bloom, or whatever is getting you through the week, and come chittin' and chattin' with us.
