In this gripping episode, Eric sits down with Beth Granger, the first staff child born at Grenville Christian College—once considered one of Canada’s most prestigious private religious schools. Beneath its polished surface, however, Grenville hid decades of coercion, public shaming, weaponized religion, and psychological abuse. Beth courageously shares her experience of being separated from her parents, subjected to strict diets and public humiliation from the age of five, and living under the rule of the enigmatic “Mothers”—leaders whose influence transformed the school into a cult hiding in plain sight. Beth discusses the unique matriarchal leadership at Grenville, the devastating impact of purity culture and body shaming, and the lifelong effects of religious trauma. She also details her role in spearheading a 16-year landmark class action lawsuit that set a historical precedent for abuse survivors in Canada. Throughout, Beth reflects on the ongoing journey of healing, the importance of validating survivors’ experiences, and the urgent need for accountability and reform in religious institutions. This week, former Thomas Road Baptist Church (TRBC) pastor Sergio Guardia was found guilty on all three counts, including Stalking and Breaking and Entering, according to court documents. The case, which has garnered significant local attention, reveals disturbing patterns—not only in Guardia’s actions but also in TRBC’s failure to protect the victim and its continued support of the convicted abuser. Marie Columna, the victim, courageously testified in court this week, delivering her witness statement with the support of several victims’ advocates who traveled to stand by her side. One of the most shocking aspects of the case is that Guardia was caught on camera breaking into Columna’s home. Despite this clear evidence, TRBC failed to stand with the survivor. Instead, they treated her poorly and chose to support the convicted pastor. This is about more than just one case; there appear to be other victims and a larger story that needs to be investigated. The way TRBC handled this is deeply concerning—not just for Columna, but for anyone who has suffered abuse within their religious institutions. The case raises even greater concerns due to TRBC’s close ties to Liberty University, which was recently fined $14 million for its mishandling of sexual assault cases. This apparent pattern of neglect and institutional protection of abusers demands further investigation. ✖️✖️✖️ Support the Show: Patreon.com/PreacherBoys ✖️✖️✖️ If you or someone you know has experienced abuse, visit courage365.org/need-help ✖️✖️✖️ CONNECT WITH THE SHOW: preacherboyspodcast.com https://www.youtube.com/@PreacherBoys https://www.facebook.com/preacherboysdoc/ https://twitter.com/preacherboysdoc https://www.instagram.com/preacherboyspod https://www.tiktok.com/@preacherboyspod To connect with a community that shares the Preacher Boys Podcast's mission to expose abuse in the IFB, join the OFFICIAL Preacher Boys Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1403898676438188/ ✖️✖️✖️ The content presented in this video is for informational and educational purposes only.
