Set in a distant future where noble houses control planets and a valuable resource called "spice" is mined on the desert planet Arrakis, the story follows Paul Atreides, the young heir of House Atreides, as his family assumes control of Arrakis. As Paul learns about the political intrigue surrounding Arrakis and the indigenous people known as the Fremen, he discovers his own destiny tied to the planet's fate. *Contains Spoilers for the content discussed and the wider Dune Universe* The "Children of Dune" miniseries, released in 2003, is a television adaptation of the second and third novels in Frank Herbert's "Dune" series: "Dune Messiah" and "Children of Dune." Directed by Greg Yaitanes, and written by John Harrison (who directed the 2000 miniseries). The first episode of the miniseries covers the events of Dune: Messiah and the last two episodes adapt Children of Dune. This is TO DATE the ONLY attempt to adapt these two novels.
