5 For Fifty
Home service growth isn’t crashing… it’s quietly stalling. Remember the Yellow Pages? It didn’t disappear overnight. It just kept working… a little worse each year—until it didn’t work at all. I believe we’re entering a similar shift right now. Home service companies are still following the same playbook: websites, Google reviews, SEO, ads… And it still works. But something underneath is changing. Consumers are starting to search differently. Fewer clicks. Fewer options. Fewer chances to get picked. And when buyers only see a handful of options… what happens to everyone else? Most businesses won’t notice the shift right away. They’ll blame the economy. Competition. Seasonality. Just like before. But by the time it’s obvious… it’s already too late. This video breaks down what’s actually happening—and why the companies that adapt early will have a massive advantage. ▸▸ Want my Roadmaps for Free? Hey 👋, I’m Jonathan Pototschnik—my friends call me JP. If you’ve heard of me, it’s probably because I’ve had some big wins in home services over the last 15 years, building multiple 8-figure companies and selling a software business. But what you didn’t see were the years before that—trying different businesses, walking away from businesses that made great money but weren’t what I wanted for my life, and pushing through times when I felt like I was giving everything but barely keeping up with life at home with my wife and boys. I lost three years and $100k on my first ‘real’ business in my mid-20s. I spent years building another company only to give back my equity and walk away. People see success, but they don’t see the long, exhausting, and uncertain road it took to get here—just like the one you might be on now. This channel is where I share what I’ve learned—what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d do differently. I don’t have a grand plan for this. Maybe I’ll coach again (I used to own a coaching business). Maybe I’ll help young entrepreneurs. Maybe I’ll start another software company (probably not). I just know that sharing what I’ve learned is valuable, and I enjoy it. Plus, it keeps my options open. It’s always good to have an audience and be known. If you’re building something and want to avoid years of trial and error, stick around. I’ve got a few ideas to share. Curious why I named this channel 5ForFifty? Here’s what I believe: https://youtu.be/taeJ95dCwcw - Jonathan
