Some doors you walk through every day without thinking. Others you stand in front of for a long time before you knock. Tanner, Lina, and Micah finally go to Mr. Henry’s porch. The star from last week is gone. Tanner knocks. The door opens. “I was wondering when you’d come.” Inside, Mr. Henry’s kitchen table is covered in wooden stars. He’s been at the church for forty-one years. His grandchildren moved away eleven years ago, and he started carving stars after they left — not knowing who they were for. He placed them in the church, around the neighborhood, year after year. Most went untouched. He almost stopped. But God didn’t tell him to stop. So he didn’t. Then, in January, three kids started finding them. And they didn’t ignore them. Mr. Henry reveals that the stars weren’t random. They were armor — the whole armor of God from Ephesians 6. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Word. Every star was a piece of equipment. He’d been fitting them for battle without them knowing. He gives them one final star — larger, heavier, polished: “PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR.” And then he says the words that change everything: “After this, you place your own.” Key Scripture Ephesians 6:11 (KJV) “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Family Discussion • Is there something God has asked you to do faithfully, even when you can’t see the results yet? Big Idea Faithful obedience doesn’t need an audience — it needs a willing heart and enough time for God to work.
