Federated Farmers has elected a new national president from South Canterbury. Waimate arable and dairy farmer Colin Hurst has replaced Wayne Langford. He's served as vice president for the last three years - and been spokesperson for freshwater, biodiversity, and fire and emergency issues. Former Federated Farmers president Wayne Langford says he's worked with Colin Hurst for a number of years and he's got confidence in his replacement. "He'll go well and he'll bring a different style to me, but that tends to be what you find - if you look at Andrew Hoggard, who was before me, he's quite different to me."
