Episode 24 - Confederados

Now this is something I've never even heard of before. After losing the Civil War you assume that all of the confederates just like...hung around and made kids that would be racist several generations later flying participation trophy flags, right? Turns out, about 20,000 Confederates, including soldiers and their families, decided that they didn't want to live in this new America, and after trying out several central and south American countries ended up in Brazil. The craziest part? They're still around! There's a town called Americana in Brazil where people still celebrate their Confederate heritage to this very day. Someone should probably, like, explain to them why they shouldn't be celebrating that? But, oh well. Brazil is the Try-Hardiest country in the world and will take anyone. Thanks for tuning in! Bullshit Episode 2 - The Tub Girl of Podcasts

Owl takes a week off to drive back to Colorado from Maryland, so the Beavis and Butthead of podcasts (Vulture and Hawk, respectively), take over for our second bullshit episode. They compare and contrast It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Seinfeld, talk about a chess champion who puts stuff in his butt which leads to a whole conversation about how sensitive their butt holes are. This is a good episode if you've ever had questions about what's on the other side of a glory hole. Spoiler alert: until after 2017 it was always a dude on the other side. Also a good source of information if you're trying to find local glory holes in your area. Important stuff. Thanks for tuning in! You can find us on Instagram and Twitter. Episode 23 - Hare Krishna: Part 2

Welcome to the conclusion of the Hare Krishna series! Today we talk a little bit more about the beliefs of the Hare Krishna, but really focus on the history of Swami Prabhupada, the coming up story of ISKCON up to his death. After he dies the eleven "scoundrel" gurus take over and pretty much turn the whole movement into a crime syndicate where they can do whatever they want. The focus of our story today is on Keith Ham, or Guru Kirtananada, how he manipulated his followers and the whole Hare Krishna Movement, and how the whole thing turned into a downward spiral to murder. There's sexual molestation, there's drugs, there's guns, there's rock and roll. The Beatles, man. They wrote a whole song about it that's now on the Gaurdians of the Galaxy soundtrack. Frickin just...Wild, man. Thanks for tuning in! You can find us on Instagram and Twitter. Thanks for listening and tell us what you think! Episode 22 - Hare Krishna: Part 1

Welcome back to Birdz Ain't Real! After a little hiatus, we're back and full of new energy! We're flipping the script a little bit. We're still here to talk about conspiracy theories, but we've decided it's going to be so much more than that. Cryptids, cults, conspiracies, and all things wacky and weird in this world are up for discussion. This week we talk about the Hare Krishna Movement, also known as Krishna Conciousness, also known as ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness). This is a two-parter because of all the information we need to discuss. In this first episode we talk about what the Hare Krishna believe, and get a little into their humble beginnings with A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada coming to America to spread the word of Krishna. We foreshadow a little bit into the troubling time they had up through the eighties, but we won't get to the drugs and murders until part two. Thanks for tuning in! Episode 21 - Crack Cocaine and the CIA

The CIA has committed countless atrocities in the name of progress. Welcome to Birds Ain't Real! We like to keep things light and fun because they world is full of monsters and horrors that we have no control over. The Cold War has been going on since right after World War II, and everything about it has completely shaped the world as we know it. So many proxy wars over the years have blurred the fight between democracy (pronounced: capitalism) and communism into what we know as modern history. There's a competition to see who can be the biggest global bastard, and we all get to lose! Today we talk about the specific casualty of inner city black folk during the Iran-Contra Affair in which the CIA works with big name drug dealers to sell cocaine in order to launder money for their third party conflicts in other countries. Did Ronald Reagan single out inner-city minorities by ruining their lives with crack? Or, did the over-policing of specific neighborhoods just become undeniably evident as drugs flooded the streets of the United States? That's up to you to decide. As for me? The one who writes the descriptions to these episodes? I need a drink thinking about all this.  Bama Country by Kevin MacLeod Link: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3417-bama-country License: https://filmmusic.io/standard-license
