This week, we’re reviewing the new romance series, Every Year After, based on Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. With the series coming out on Prime following the success of The Summer I Turned Pretty and Off Campus, we had high hopes, but ultimately, we were left disappointed. Office Romance | Is It a Classic Rom-Com or Raunchy Comedy?

This week, we watched Office Romance, Netflix’s latest “romantic comedy” starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein. Brett, who also co-wrote the film, set out to "make an old-school rom-com" ... but did he actually accomplish his goal? We let you know what we think. Before we dive into the movie, we kick things off with our Week 1 recap of Love Island USA, because there, OF COURSE, there's already plenty to discuss. Then we get into our full review of Office Romance. We share what worked, what didn’t, and what we think a movie needs in order to earn “classic rom-com” status. We discuss Jennifer Lopez’s performance, her chemistry with Brett Goldstein, whether the romance itself actually worked, and the scenes that left us absolutely FLABBERGASTED. Along the way, we end up having a bigger conversation about British vs. American rom-coms, differences in humor, and whether men and women tend to approach romance stories differently. But I'm a Cheerleader & The Broken Hearts Club | Pride Month Double Feature ft. Rachel!

We're kicking off Pride Month by sharing our thoughts on TWO rom-coms, AND we're joined by a very special guest! Rachel (aka our lesbian liaison) is one of my dearest friends, and we loved hearing her unique perspective. Roman Holiday | Reviewing Our Oldest RomCom Yet!

Today we went back in time to a classic movie that would become the blueprint for many romcoms to come! This was Audrey Hepburn's first major American film, and there's no question whether she deserves her icon status after seeing how charming and wonderful she is in Roman Holiday. We also loved Gregory Peck and will be searching for some TikTok edits of him immediately. Seven Days in June by Tia Williams | Bonus Book Episode + Bookish News

For May’s bonus book episode, we're excited to share all our thoughts on Seven Days in June by Tia Williams. But first, we discuss the latest book and TV adaptation news. We were also excited to learn that this book is currently being adapted into a TV series, so consider this your sign to read it before it comes out! This book immediately hooks your attention, and it keeps you engaged through its exploration of heavy themes and emotional flashbacks. The marketing describes this story as a “sexy” second-chance romance about a couple reuniting 15 years after a passionate seven days together…and while that may sound lighthearted, this story is anything but (and that's not a bad thing!). It offers representation that isn’t often seen in mainstream romance, and while it’s not as steamy or "fun" as our typical reads, it shares an important message and leaves you thinking about what love can endure.
