John 21:20-22 ESV * This takes place directly following Jesus’ restoration of Peter. * Jesus didn’t just restore him to right relationship but restored the call to tend His sheep.  * Peter turned and saw John.  * Peter gets beat up a lot because he seems to be singled out for his faults but he also turned to Jesus every time and stayed with Him.  * There was another time when Peter lost focus and the comparison is worth noting.  Matthew 14:22-33 ESV * When Peter lost focus on Jesus he began to fall away but turned to Jesus for help.  * Before judging, Peter was the only one who got out of the boat.  * Jesus walking on the water is a direct reflection to the psalmist in his distress.  * What did he do in an effort to recover? Psalm 77:10-20 ESV * When reflecting on God’s intervention in the past it allows us the faith that He will intervene again.  * God intervened for the Israelites and they crossed the Red Sea, the psalmist reflected on that for encouragement.  * Jesus intervened as the disciples rowed, Peter began to sink and directed his attention to the one walking on the water.  * The one who parted the waters in the Old Testament is the one who is walking on them in Matthew 14 and the one who is redirecting Peter in John 21 to follow Him.  John 21:23-25 ESV * What did Jesus do after He resurrected well there’s not enough paper. Why? He is still doing even today.  * David sharing.  * Why is He still working today? * Because by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony the enemy is defeated.  Revelation 12:7-12 ESV * Every time Jesus intervenes it’s for the building of our faith and defeating the enemy.  * The testimonies of years past Have been strength and proof for those becoming believers.  * Your testimonies provide strength and proof for what’s ahead but also builds your faith.  * We know that the blood of Christ was shed for our forgiveness but that along with the word of our testimony is ammo that will crush satan.  The Blood, rebel redeemed 316  https://youtu.be/HteHAq_JvK8 Support the show [https://together.churchtrac.com/]

The Book of Acts

Acts 5 Recap * Lame man healed * Sermon * About 5,000 men became believers.  * Second sermon * They sold land, houses, and other possessions.  * They brought the proceeds to the disciples to give to those in need.  Acts 4:34-35 ESV 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold 35 and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. Acts 5:1-42 ESV  Verses 1-11 * The fact that both dropped dead tends to distract us from the main point.  * No one commanded this type of giving.  * The Spirit led individuals to give extravagantly.  * Was this for prestige or did greed grip them? * The sin was not against man but the Spirit.  * The amount of money was never disclosed.  The Spirit desires the heart not your money.  Matthew 17:24-27 ESV 24 When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?” 25 He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?”26 And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. 27 However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel.[g] Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.” Jesus wanted Peter to release the right or wrong and submit his heart.  * Nearly half of Jesus parables were regarding money or giving.  * This was never out of need for money but heart.  Matthew 6:19-21 ESV 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust[e] destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. His desire is for our heart not some surface level commitment.  Verses 12-16 * The signs and wonders continued and the church grew. * Both men and women were added to the church.  * Just as we normally do they made this about the person even his shadow.  * Everything that was being done was to validate the message of Christ.  Verses 17-42 * They were arrested by religious and political leaders. * They were released by the Spirit.  * Told to continue to preach publicly.  * When they were brought in to those leaders they asked why they went against their command? * Their response is the root of the issue you and I battle today.  God or man which will it be? It’s time to choose this day who you will serve.  Joshua said it this way to the Israelites.  Joshua 24:14-15 ESV 14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Paul said it like this to the Ephesians.  Ephesians 6:10-13 ESV 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm * Peter again delivered a sermon of Christ crucified and raised. * After this they were beaten and released.  * They counted it as joy to suffer shame for the name of Jesus.  * Choosing to follow God is a no matter what choice. Father’s Day 2026

1. Love your wife 2. I love you 3. A daughter needs a dad to be the standard by which she will judge all men.  4. A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow.  5. Don’t make me turn this car around or do you want me to pull over? 6. Hi hungry, I’m dad.  7. I’m just resting my eyes.  8. How bad is it.  9. No 10. Go ask mom.  Ephesians 5:22-33 ESV 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.[a] 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. John 14:15-17 ESV 15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,[f] to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be[g] in you. Ephesians 6:1-4 ESV  1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Exodus 20:2-3,12 ESV 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me. 12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. Acts 2

We left the disciples last week praying together and handling church affairs. Jesus had given them directives on how to live for 3 1/2 years. When he ascended to heaven he left them with 2 final instructions. To make disciples and wait.  Today we will see both in action!!! Acts 2:1-47 ESV  Verses 1-13 1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested[a] on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. 6 And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. 7 And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?8 And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11 both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” 12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.” How were they obedient? * They waited together.  * They allowed the Spirit to do a work in them.  * This is what Paul wrote to Philippi in regard to the Spirit at work in them.  Philippians 1:3-6 ESV 3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. * I’m also convinced that what the Lord began in you He will bring to completion.  * Trust me when I say this work is not complete you yet but it will be.  What are the results of that obedience? * Spoke in tongues. * The Spirit may work in you differently but will you allow Him to have His liberty in you.  * Each person from every nation understood them. * You may never know the effects of the work that takes place through you.  Verses 14-41 14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15 For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.[b] 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: 17  “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,     and your young men shall see visions,     and your old men shall dream dreams; 18  even on my male servants and female servants     in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. 19  And I will show wonders in the heavens above     and signs on the earth below,     blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; 20  the sun shall be turned to darkness     and the moon to blood,     before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. 21  And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ 22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— 23 this Jesus,[c] delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. 25 For David says concerning him, “‘I saw the Lord always before me,     for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; 26  therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;     my flesh also will dwell in hope. 27  For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,     or let your Holy One see corruption. 28  You have made known to me the paths of life;     you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’ 29 “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, 35      until I make your enemies your footstool.”’ 36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” 37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. How did Peter obey? * He proclaimed the word of God. * There just happened to be at least 3,000 people that heard him.  * He would have proclaimed in the same way if there would’ve been 1,5, or 10.  What was the result of that obedience? * 3,000 people were added to eternity.  * This is no small thing, that people are add to eternity.  Verses 42-47 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe[d] came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. How were they obedient? * They were discipling and receiving discipleship.  * It’s impossible to disciple if no one is willing to be discipled.  * It’s impossible to be discipled if you are unwilling to receive discipleship.  What were the results of their obedience? * The number of those who were welcomed into eternity grew daily.  * Discipleship grows eternity greater than compounding interest.  Conclusion How are you struggling to obey the Lord today? Will you commit to obey Him? How will you allow Him to work in you and through you? Support the show [https://together.churchtrac.com/]
