Three Things About Discipleship

In this episode, Garrett opens up Luke 6:17-49 to unpack three essential truths about discipleship, the blessings it brings, the demands it makes, and the response it produces in the life of a genuine follower. Rooted in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20, this episode is an honest and challenging reflection on what it means to move beyond simply attending church and into a life of real surrender, sacrifice, and service to Christ. If you've been asking what it actually means to follow Jesus, this episode is for you.

Do I Have Enough Faith To Fight Against All Odds?

Excel & Reflect Podcast – Season 1, Episode 13 Title: Do I Have Enough Faith to Fight Against All Odds? Key Texts: Hebrews 11:32–34; Judges 6–8 In this episode, Garrett Bernethy examines the story of Gideon to answer a powerful question: Is my faith strong enough to face overwhelming challenges? Through Hebrews 11 and Judges 6–8, we see how God transforms a fearful and uncertain man into a leader who trusts Him completely. Gideon’s journey reminds us that faith doesn’t begin with confidence—it grows through dependence on God. When God reduced Gideon’s army to just 300 men, it became clear that victory would come not by human strength, but by trusting in His power. This episode encourages listeners to shift their focus from their own limitations to God’s presence. No matter the odds, faith in Him makes the difference—and you are never fighting alone.

episode Who Rules Your Life? artwork

Who Rules Your Life?

Excel & Reflect Podcast Season 1, Episode 12 Title: Who Rules Your Life? – A Reflection of Allegiance Main Text: Colossians 3:1–2 "Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth." Episode Overview: In this episode, we explore a question that cuts to the very core of our identity and purpose: Who truly rules your life?Every person lives under some form of authority—whether we consciously acknowledge it or not. Our decisions, priorities, attitudes, and actions all reveal who or what sits on the throne of our hearts. Drawing from Colossians 3:1–2, we are reminded that a life raised with Christ is a life redirected. It is no longer grounded in earthly pursuits but fixed on heavenly realities. This shift is not just philosophical—it is transformational. Key Theme: Your life will always reflect your allegiance. If Christ rules your life, your thoughts, desires, and actions will increasingly mirror His character. There will be a visible pursuit of things above—things that are eternal, pure, and pleasing to God. However, if you rule your own life, your reflection will naturally align with the world—temporary values, self-centered ambition, and shifting truth. Reflection Questions: * What currently has the greatest influence over my decisions and priorities? * Do my daily choices reflect a focus on things above or things on earth? * In what areas of my life am I still trying to maintain control instead of surrendering to Christ? * If someone observed my life, what would they say rules my heart? It matters who rules your heart—because that ruler shapes your life. When Christ is on the throne, your life becomes a reflection of Him. But when the self takes Its place, your life will inevitably reflect the world. So today, ask yourself honestly: Who rules your life?

episode Live For Christ The Way Christ Lived For You artwork

Live For Christ The Way Christ Lived For You

EPISODE THEME: A call to reflect Christ not just in belief—but in lifestyle. WELCOME: Welcome to the UNTIED Podcast, where we untangle the noise of life with truth, faith, and purpose. In today’s episode, we challenge ourselves with a powerful question: Are we truly living for Christ the way He lived for us? EPISODE OVERVIEW: In this episode, we dive into 2 Corinthians 5:11–17, exploring what it means to live a transformed life in response to the sacrifice and love of Jesus. Paul reminds us that in Christ, we are not just improved—we are made new. That transformation is meant to be seen, lived out, and reflected daily. This isn’t about surface-level Christianity. It’s about a deep, life-altering commitment to live as Christ lived—with purpose, surrender, and devotion. KEY FOCUS: To live for Christ the way He lived for us means embracing a life shaped by His priorities, His mission, and His heart. MAIN POINTS: 1. A Life Anchored in Prayer Jesus consistently withdrew to pray. If the Son of God depended on prayer, how much more should we? A Christ-centered life is sustained through constant communication with the Father. 2. A Life Committed to Study Jesus knew and lived the Word. Living for Christ requires more than inspiration—it demands immersion in Scripture, allowing truth to shape our thinking and actions. 3. A Life Drawn Near to God Jesus lived in perfect fellowship with the Father. We are called to pursue that same closeness—intentionally drawing near, not drifting through faith. 4. A Life Devoted to Doing God’s Will Jesus declared, “I came not to do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” Living for Christ means aligning our desires with God’s purpose, even when it’s difficult. 5. A Life of Submission From the wilderness to the cross, Jesus modeled complete surrender. True discipleship is marked by humility and a willingness to say, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” KEY SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 5:11–17 – A reminder that we are new creations, called to no longer live for ourselves, but for Him who died and rose again on our behalf. TAKEAWAY THOUGHT: You cannot claim the cross of Christ without committing to the life of Christ. He didn’t live halfway for you—so don’t live halfway for Him. CALL TO ACTION: Take time this week to evaluate your life. Are you living for Christ—or just believing in Him? Choose one area—prayer, study, submission—and intentionally grow in it. CLOSING ENCOURAGEMENT: Living like Christ isn’t about perfection—it’s about direction. Each day is an opportunity to reflect Him more clearly. The same love that saved you is the love that now sends you to live differently.
