S3 • E6 | The Tower You're Building (Genesis 10–11)

That feeling that you gotta build something. Gotta be somebody. That if you can just hit the number, get the business where it needs to be, get people to look at you a certain way, then you'll finally be able to breathe. Genesis 11 is about a whole civilization that felt exactly that. They said it out loud: let's make a name for ourselves. And Robert's honest about the fact that he's built that tower too, and what it cost him. We get into why they really built it (it wasn't pride, it was fear), the line where God has to come down to look at the tallest thing humans ever built, and why God scattering them might've been mercy instead of punishment. S3 • E5 | The God Who Shut the Door (Genesis 6–9)

Before God ever sent the rain, He'd already drawn up the rescue. Genesis 6 through 9 — Noah, the ark, the flood, and the promise still hanging in the sky every time it rains. We walk it slow and pull out what the felt-board version left behind: how "covenant" shows up here for the very first time in the whole Bible, and how God bound Himself to rescue before the first drop ever fell. The tender line most people miss — that Noah didn't shut the ark's door, God did. And the three words the entire flood turns on: "But God remembered." Then the picture you've seen a hundred times and never really read. That "rainbow" is the Hebrew word for a war bow — a weapon. And God hung it up, pointed away, turning an instrument of judgment into a promise of peace. God told a man exactly how to stop the worst thing he'd ever do — and he did it anyway. Genesis 4 through 6. Cain and Abel, the first murder, and how the world went dark fast. This episode we get into the stuff underneath the story: the difference between your first and your leftovers, and why God saw it in the very first offering ever made. The predator picture God gives for sin — "crouching at your door" — and the gap where you still hear that same warning today. Then the slide. It's the origin story of a God who moves toward chaos instead of waiting for it to clean itself up.
