Does Our View of the Church Match the Bible? | Pot 3 Trailer

What does the Bible actually say the Church is supposed to be? In this trailer for Pot 3 of Grace in the Grind, Cody introduces Christ and His Church—a season built around examining the assumptions, traditions, preferences, and familiar practices that often shape our understanding of church. Many of us inherited a particular picture of church without ever stopping to ask whether that picture fully aligns with Scripture. We can easily confuse tradition with biblical conviction, attendance with discipleship, activity with maturity, and personal preference with faithful practice. But the Church is more than a building, a weekly service, or a religious organization. Scripture describes her as the body of Christ, the bride of Christ, and the household of God. That changes the questions we ask. Instead of only asking, “Did I get something out of church?” we begin asking, “Am I helping build up the body?” Instead of only asking whether a church is growing numerically, we begin asking whether its people are maturing spiritually. Pot 3 will explore the biblical nature, mission, leadership, community, worship, discipleship, unity, conflict, and everyday life of Christ’s Church. These conversations may challenge some familiar assumptions, but the goal is not to attack traditions, criticize pastors, or tear down local churches. The goal is to let Scripture shape our understanding of the Church Christ loves and gave Himself for. The season grew out of a local church study that later became the book Christ and His Church: A Biblical Study of the Nature, Mission, and Life of the Church. But sometimes what our culture calls normal is actually a flashing light on the dashboard of our souls. God’s correction may feel uncomfortable in the moment, but it can produce the peaceful fruit of righteousness when we are trained by it. But when productivity, comfort, success, financial stability, or national identity become the foundation of our lives, the storm eventually reveals what was underneath all along.
