Descripción

In this episode of Confidence in Your Calling, we dive into the Book of Job to explore the danger of forcing divine mystery into human logic. Why do we automatically assume suffering must be punishment? Why do we feel the need to explain every painful situation with predictable formulas? Through Job’s devastating losses, emotional wrestling, and conversations with his friends, this episode uncovers how human reasoning can sometimes distort our understanding of God. We will break down the tension between logic and faith… the assumptions made by Job’s friends… and the deeper message behind God’s response in Job 38–41. This conversation explores how suffering is not always a reflection of personal failure… why God cannot be reduced to human equations…  and how faith sometimes requires trusting God without receiving the answers we hoped for. If you’ve ever wrestled with confusion, grief, unanswered questions, or the pressure to “make sense” of your pain… this episode will encourage you to release the need for complete understanding and lean into humility, trust, and the mystery of God’s wisdom. Topics Discussed: * The deeper meaning behind the story of Job * Why suffering cannot always be explained logically * The danger of reducing God to predictable formulas * Job’s friends and the assumption that suffering equals punishment * Elihu’s role in the conversation * Trusting God beyond human understanding * Faith, grief, confusion, and spiritual humility * Proverbs 3:5 and surrendering human reasoning to God Scriptures Referenced: * Book of Job * Proverbs 3:5 * Job 38–41 Love,   Dawn Shurley    Keywords: Book of Job explained, Christian podcast, faith during suffering, trusting God without answers, suffering and faith, biblical wisdom, Christian encouragement, Job and suffering, understanding God, spiritual growth, Christian women podcast, trusting God in difficult times, biblical perspective on suffering, faith beyond logic

28 | Why Does God’s Voice Seem Louder in Some Seasons Than Others?

Have you ever wished God would just tell you—loud and clear—which way to go? Maybe you've prayed, "Lord, just show me the right decision. I don't want to make a mistake." In this episode of The Faith-Led Life, we explore the powerful promise of Psalm 32:8: "I will guide you along the best path for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." What if the seasons when God seems quieter aren't signs that He's distant—but signs that He's growing your faith? Together we'll unpack the difference between God's guidance and His advice, discover what it means to trust Him when He takes His hands off the handlebars, and learn practical ways to walk confidently, even when you don't have every answer. If you've ever wondered why God seems louder in some seasons than others, this episode will encourage you to stop chasing certainty and start resting in the unchanging character of your Heavenly Father. In this episode, you'll discover: Why "guiding" and "advising" are two different ways God leads us What Psalm 32:8 reveals about God's fatherly heart How to trust God when His direction feels less obvious Five practical ways to grow your faith during an "advising season" Why God's character is more dependable than your circumstances Key Scripture: Psalm 32:8 Whenever you're in an advising season, ask yourself these five questions: Does this reflect God's character? Is this my next faithful step? What has God already shown me? Have I sought His counsel? Will this help me grow in Christlike character? If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend who may be walking through a season of waiting or uncertainty. And if you're enjoying The Faith-Led Life, leaving a review is one of the best ways to help more women discover the freedom of trusting God's character instead of needing all the details. If you’re buying or selling a home in the Greater Tampa Bay Area I’d love to help you on your journey! Cell: 815-979-5333 Love, Dawn Shurley

27 | Trusting God's Character Instead of the Details

Formerly Confidence in Your Calling — same host, same biblical encouragement, now with a broader mission to help Christian women know God's character, trust His leading, and live a faith-led life. Have you ever known in your heart that God was calling you to do something, only to become overwhelmed by all the unanswered questions? In this episode of Faith-Led Life, we're talking about why trusting God's character is far more important than knowing every detail of His plan. If you've ever found yourself overthinking, waiting for more clarity, or letting fear keep you from taking the next step, this episode will encourage you to move forward in faith. You'll learn why God often reveals just enough for your next step, how fear grows when we focus on circumstances instead of God's unchanging character, and practical ways to renew your mind with Scripture so you can follow His lead with confidence and peace. In this episode, you'll discover: * Why knowing God's character changes the way you face uncertainty. * How overthinking and fear keep us from living a faith-led life. * Practical steps to replace anxiety with biblical truth. * How to take your next step in obedience—even when you don't have all the answers. * Why God calls us to trust Him, not the details. I share a couple personal stories about stepping into the unknown, overcoming fear, and learning that God's faithfulness is experienced one step at a time—not by having the entire roadmap in advance. If you're a Christian woman who wants to trust God more deeply, hear His leading with confidence, overcome fear and overwhelm, and simplify your faith journey, this episode will encourage and equip you to keep moving forward. Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6 If this episode encouraged you, please follow the podcast, leave a review, and share it with a friend who needs the reminder that God is faithful—even when the details are unknown. Faith-Led Life is the podcast for Christian women who want to know God's character, trust His leading, and live a life that honors God and serves the Kingdom. I'm so glad you're here! 25 | What Is My Purpose? Why Was I Created?

I’m sure you’ve never wondered, “What’s my purpose? Why was I created?” …. So I’m pretty sure all of us have asked ourselves that at one point or another.  The Bible is pretty clear on why we were created… to reflect the image of God into this world. Because of sin that entered the world… we reflect that image through Jesus… through Jesus we can come to God… through Jesus we can see the image of God in the mirror instead of the broken and distorted glass that sin created in our lives. Thank you Jesus!  Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.   Scripture referenced: Genesis 1:27 John 4:19 John 14:6 Jeremiah 1:5   By growing in love with Jesus and seeking the Lord… we are healed over time or at times, instantly… the more we heal from sin… the more we reflect God into the world. We all have sin and we all are called to God. The only way to be restored is by answering that call. It’s not new age healing modalities… those may bring temporary and limited relief… Jesus is the true and everlasting deep soul healing. Be blessed! If you happen to be in the market to buy or sell a home in Florida… I am a Faith-led REALTOR® in Florida and fully enjoy real estate as my “tent-making” and serving others to help them into their next piece of paradise 🏡 🩵 Cell: 815-979-5333 email: FloridaRealtorDawn@gmail.com [FloridaRealtorDawn@gmail.com] **Sorry, a snippet of the audio cut out as I am reverting back to on-the-go podcasting tools… I have a lot to share but tech seems to be a consistent barrier for me 😂**   Love, Dawn Shurley

24 | More Peace Anybody? - The Spiritual Practice of Pruning Your Home and Life

What if our possessions in our homes are a slow... or fast leak in our cup of peace... and are distracting us from what matters most? In this episode of Confidence in Your Calling, I'll share a powerful spiritual metaphor about pruning plants and how it reflects the way we manage our possessions, priorities, and energy. Just as plants struggle to produce healthy fruit when nourishment is spread across dead or overcrowded branches, we can become overwhelmed by the constant maintenance of things that no longer serve our lives or our current season. Through biblical wisdom, practical reflection, and encouragement, this episode explores: * How possessions can quietly consume our time and energy * The connection between material possessions and internal peace * Biblical teachings on pruning, simplicity, and fruitfulness * Why God removes distractions so healthy growth can flourish * How creating margin in your home creates space for connection, purpose, and rest Featuring reflections from: * Ecclesiastes * John * Hebrews * Luke If you’re feeling mentally overloaded... emotionally exhausted... or weighed down by “too much,” this episode will encourage you to slow down, simplify, and prayerfully prune what no longer bears good fruit.
