Tehran says indirect talks with Washington are continuing through regional mediators, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio insists the United States remains open to diplomacy if Iran ends its attacks on commercial shipping. Elsewhere, archaeologists in Jerusalem have uncovered remarkably well-preserved charred wooden beams believed to date to the Babylonian destruction of the First Temple in 586 BCE. Elsewhere, Syria says it has intercepted a shipment of advanced weapons allegedly destined for Hezbollah, while the IDF says it has killed three Hezbollah operatives inside southern Lebanon’s security zone and destroyed more than 1,500 Hezbollah sites in a major operation along the border. In Gaza, Israeli forces have destroyed four Hamas weapons depots and killed the group’s sniper commander, as Morocco confirms it has deployed troops to the emerging international stabilisation force. And Colombia’s incoming government says it will open an embassy in Jerusalem and fully restore diplomatic ties with Israel, reversing the anti-Israel policies of outgoing president Gustavo Petro and signalling another shift to the right in Latin America.
