Stephen Emirzian has worked in the industry for more than twenty-five years. He is an actor, writer, producer and director.
At the end of 2019, Steve produced a sitcom conceptual pilot called âThe Big Shotâ starring Bern Nadette Stanis (Thelma from âGood Timesâ) and actor Chris Barnes (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) which can currently be seen on Amazon Prime.
Emirzian has self-published a memoir, âLife at 24 Frames Per Second,â that deals with his life in the entertainment industry and the comical ups and downs he dealt with along the way.
Steve has been the editor and writer for dozens of newspapers and magazines over the years. He also had a weekly arts/entertainment column called âCenter Stage.â Later, he hosted a podcast by the same name and interviewed local filmmakers and industry professionals.Â
As a former commissioner with the Hartford Film and Media Commission, Steve helped support film and television production being filmed in and around the city.
Steveâs most recent job included teaching filmmaking and scriptwriting to students at a summer program called âCAN DO!â
Steve was recently hired as the emcee/interviewer for the award-winning Armenian documentary, âMy Sweet Landâ that premiered in Connecticut at the Cinestudio at Trinity College in September.Â
Heâs also an executive producer and director for the upcoming documentary, âHollywood to Hartford: Connecticutâs Film Locationsâ streaming summer of 2026.
Steve started out as an actor/performer having graduated from CT School of Broadcasting in Farmington right out of high school. A year later he auditioned and was accepted to acting school in New York City.
His first professional job was at the Oakdale Musical Theater in Wallingford where he helped in a variety of capacities before and during run of shows. He would eventually be promoted to Assistant Stage Manager for the childrenâs shows once a week.
During the early â90s, Steve was the producer of an award-winning cable access comedy show. He was also the writer for an irreverent monthly magazine called âThe Hartford Planet.â
In 1997 Steve was hired as production assistant/associate producer on âThe Gayle King Showâ in Hartford. When the show ended, he produced another local talk show called âWhatâs Goinâ On!â
The early 2000s had Steve working with the CT Film Office to help bring outside productions like âJudging Amyâ to Hartford.
In 2019 Steve produced a conceptual sitcom pilot based loosely on his own experiences working in local news called âThe Big Shotâ currently streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi.
That same year, Steve released his self-published memoir âLife at 24 Frames Per Secondâ which talked about his experiences in the industry.
Steve was most recently appointed to the position of Board Member with the CT Film & TV Alliance. Heâs also currently editing a documentary, âHollywood to Hartfordâ on why Connecticut is such a great place to film.Â
