Acerca de Lawn Chairs in Space

Lawn Chairs in Space is a long-form, unscripted podcast centered on lived experience—especially late-diagnosed neurodivergence, with a focus on autism and ADHD. These are unedited, freeform conversations. No music. No scripts. No segments. No pressure to land a point. Each episode is simply two people showing up as they are—talking the way neurodivergent minds actually talk. Looping. Spiraling. Making lateral connections. Moving between the personal and the abstract. From movies to relationships, quantum physics to nervous systems, field data to memory, identity, creativity, and how we experience the world from the inside. This show is not about fixing, optimizing, or explaining neurodivergence for outsiders. It’s about being inside it. Hosted by Joi Sun and Gnat's Rants featuring regular collaborators—who live, think, and perceive differently. There’s no plan for where the conversation will go. The point is to let it go where it needs to. Full episodes are available in video and audio formats. Short clips appear on social platforms, but the heart of the show lives in the long form—where context, depth, and nuance have room to breathe. If you’re neurodivergent, late-diagnosed, highly interior, or simply tired of compressed conversations, this space is for you. It’s just a conversation. In space.

Nervous Systems in the Wild

(00:00:00) Welcome to Lawn Chairs in Space (00:00:36) Unscripted and Unpolished Conversations (00:02:29) The Trauma of Neurodivergent Relationships (00:05:31) Learning to Regulate in Chaos (00:08:22) Embracing Authenticity in Public (00:12:21) The Birth of Lawn Chairs in Space (00:15:30) Exploring Mental Health Topics (00:17:22) Closing Thoughts and Contact Information What happens when two late-diagnosed AuDHD people realize they learned to regulate themselves inside chaos instead of safety? In this episode of Lawn Chairs in Space, Joi Sun and Tom (“Gnat’s Rants”) talk about trauma bonding, nervous systems shaped by survival, people-pleasing, masking, dysregulation, and why safe environments can initially feel unfamiliar — even threatening — to neurodivergent survivors. The conversation spirals through: * growing up around emotional unpredictability * recreating chaos in adult relationships * learning to regulate “under compression” * autism + ADHD burnout * perimenopause and late diagnosis * public masking versus private freedom * internal family systems * neurodivergent communication styles * healing through safe community * and why some people finally exhale when they find other brains like theirs Also: dogs interrupting recordings, grocery store antics, Moroccan tents, emotional support animals, drone cameras, accidental comedy, and the beautiful weirdness of letting yourself exist without constant correction. No scripts. No polish. No pretending to sit still. Just humans trying to heal in real time. Pull Up A Chair: Goats, Trauma & Neurodivergence

Welcome to Lawn Chairs in Space — an unfiltered, neurodivergent conversation space hosted several people but today, Kristin “Joi Sun” Walker and Tom “Gnat’s Rants.” This isn’t a polished self-help show. It’s many late-diagnosed ADHD, Autism, and other people on the Neurodivergent spectrum. Survivors sitting in lawn chairs somewhere between healing, humor, grief, pattern recognition, goats wandering through the yard, and conversations that refuse to stay inside neat little boxes. In this first audio-only episode, Joi and Tom talk about: * late autism and ADHD diagnosis * masking and unmasking * trauma survival * homelessness and addiction recovery * creating under pen names * finding your “core signal” * why authenticity is resonating so deeply right now * and what happens when people finally stop performing and start speaking honestly No scripts. No forced positivity. No pretending to have it all figured out. Just real conversations from people learning how to exist more truthfully in public. Pull up a chair.
