Ambassador Theodore Roosevelt Britton, Jr., L.L.D.: An Original Montford Point Marine

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2500112/fan_mail/new] I was introduced to the Montford Point Marines three years ago around Veteran's Day when I attended one of their awards ceremonies at the War Memorial in Baltimore. I didn't know their story before going. Fast forward to February of this year when one of my high school classmates, Eugene (Dobie) Gillis, a retired Marine who lives in California, forwarded me an email in February about the Montford Point Marines Association's 61st Annual Conference being held in  Baltimore July 8 -12. I believe in signs, so I said I would go and try to meet an original Montford Point Marine to interview for my podcast. Don't you know that I did just that. Today, July 9, the first day of the conference I met Ambassador Britton, and he agreed to share his remarkable story of how a little boy from the tiny town of Blue Heaven, South Carolina, grew up to become a scholar and a gentleman. Diane Dennis-Mills: Seed from the Rich Soil of Cherry Hill!

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2500112/fan_mail/new] Nobody believes me when I tell them how wonderful life was in Cherry Hill except others of my generation who grew up in this brand new, state of the art, first planned community built for African Americans by the Federal Government. We were more or less an experiment and boy did we succeed. There are enough witnesses on this podcast from Cherry Hill for you to know that this is our story, and we are sticking to it. Diane is another example of the excellence forged in the children of Cherry Hill. Listen to her unique journey. Make every moment count!
