31: Dug up from the Archives - Frankie, Maniac Woman and American Mary with Pierre Tsigaridis
Hello friends and welcome back (sort of) to the Morgue! For this episode we've pulled some stuff from an older episode whilst we wait for the incredible heat and nearby wildfire to piss off so we can record easily again. Normal service should hopefully resume next week but we didn't want you to think we'd forgotten about you. How could we?! Here's our retrospective on the Soska Sisters' American Mary and our take on Frankie, Maniac Woman, a great new horror still doing the rounds along with an interview with director Pierre Tsigaridis. Next time at the Morgue: REC (2007) and When Evil Lurks (2023) with director Demian Rugna, plus news, How Many Cats Are In It and more taglines for Ken to struggle with!
30: The Stephen King Anthology Horror connection! Creepshow 2 vs Cat's Eye, With Hannah Fierman
Welcome back to the Morgue! This week, retrospectively review 2 (count em!) classic, 80s horror anthology movies that are absolutely brimming with talent. 1985's Cat's Eye and 1986's Creepshow 2! There are too many connections to count this week so you're just going to have to listen to the show to find out just how linked up these films are but you can also rejoice at the return of How Many Cats are In It, Ken tell us what he's watched and you can play along with him in Guess the Tagline. And as a special treat, we talk to none other than Lily the succubus herself, HANNAH FIERMAN of VHS (and a lot more) fame. Thanks for tuning in - let us know how we did with a comment (but not you, Phil).
29: Don't Lake Now! (Lake Mungo/ Don't Look Now)
Welcome back to the Morgue! This week, the deadkidometer goes off the scale with Don't Look Now (1973) and Lake Mungo (2008). Ken also tells us about The Backrooms, Gaz worries everyone about Brendan Fraser and the boys pay tribute to late, great Watcher extraordinaire, Anthony Stewart Head. Play along with Taglines, check out what our listeners have to say and ponder why we've bothered with yet another feeble edition of How Many Cats Are In It? enjoy!
28: Ghostly Grifting with Beetlejuice (1988) and The Frighteners (1995)
Welcome back to the Morgue for the first episode of our new release day! We'll be coming back every two weeks as usual but you can expect new episodes on Tuesdays from now on! In this episode, we talk spooky Tim Burton, worry about Peter Jackson and regular features Listener Comments, What Have You Watched, How Many Cats Are In It and the Great Horror Movie Tagline Quiz all return for YOUR listening pleasure. We'll be back after this in three weeks as Ken and I are going on holiday (separately) and having the slabs hosed down in our absence. It gets smelly down here in the morgue, especially in the hot weather... Let us know what you think of this one, we love to hear from you!
27: Folkin' about with Kill List (2011) and The Ritual (2017)
Welcome back to the Morgue! The boys talk folk horror, grim British doings and PTSD with Ben Wheatley's Kill List and David Bruckner's The Ritual, for your listening pleasure. Irregular feature, How Many Cats Are In It returns alongside a brand new feature, possibly called Toe Tags, we haven't decided yet (nor whether it shall ever return - let us know if you liked it).
