Her family launched a nationwide search, enlisting the help of public figures, but years passed with no answers. This case is personal for Katie, as her childhood best friend lived across the street from the man eventually convicted of Shannon’s murder. She shares her memories of Rex, Georgia, and what it was like to learn that someone in her friend’s neighborhood had been responsible. Hinton is now eligible for parole in February 2025. Shannon’s family is still fighting to keep him behind bars.
