Paddock describes how Looney Tunes voice actors (especially Mel Blanc) sparked his interest in character voices and comedy, and how early attempts at standup were derailed after realizing a headliner had recently used similar “different laughs” material, keeping him offstage for nearly 20 years. Though he considers himself introverted, he enjoys performing for unfamiliar audiences and shares a Marine Corps prank story and a radio improv character, “Bobby with an eye,” including a parody Sinatra-style song. Roth explains key improv rules and invites Paddock to local Monday sessions; Paddock plans a voice-driven podcast, Mad Dog Comedy, aiming for release by Christmas. 00:00 Season Eight Kickoff 00:40 Meet Bill Paddock 01:12 Why The Villages 01:33 Cartoons Spark Comedy 02:09 Voices and Improv 04:37 Finding the Funny 05:13 Military to Corrections 06:06 Okinawa Phone Call Win 10:01 First Standup Set Flop 12:40 Alzheimers GLP One Update 14:20 Introvert on Stage 15:51 Improv Rules Basics 16:41 Make Partners Shine 16:54 No Mistakes In Improv 17:24 Why Improv Beats Script 17:41 Show Night Highlights 18:08 Radio Improv Origins 18:56 Bobby With An Eye 19:39 Sinatra Parody Clip 23:11 Prince William Aftermath 24:03 Retirement And Pickleball Pressure 25:16 Villages Club Culture 26:58 Tap Shoes Mixup 27:39 Mad Dog Comedy Podcast 28:49 Closing Thanks And Supporters New FAN MAIL features TXT & Voice Mial Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/support] Open Forum in The Villages, Florida is Produced & Directed by Mike Roth A new episode will be released most Fridays at 9 AM Direct all questions and comments to mike@rothvoice.com If you know a Villager who should appear on the show, please contact us at:  mike@rothvoice.com

Walking into the Future: Chris Raesly on Non-Surgical Knee Pain Relief

Send us FAN MAIL text, include your cell# for a reply [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/fan_mail/new] SciMoTech Gait Modification Therapy: The “Invisalign for the Knee” for Non-Surgical Pain Relief   Walking into the Future: Chris Raesly on Non-Surgical Knee Pain Relief Host Mike Roth introduces Season 8 of Villages Vitality Life and interviews Chris Raisley, a physical therapist and clinical lead at Scientific Motion Technologies (SciMoTech), about a non-surgical gait modification therapy for knee pain. Raisley explains why the foot-worn device is compared to Invisalign: a custom “mod” is positioned on a SciMoTech shoe to retrain walking mechanics, redistribute forces through the kinetic chain, and reduce or eliminate pain. The device is worn indoors on level surfaces for 30–60 minutes daily, with balance screening required. An initial 1.5–2 hour assessment in Orlando uses a gait lab and iterative adjustments; qualifying patients take the device home and typically return about monthly, averaging five visits over a year. The program is out-of-pocket ($3,240) with a refund option up to eight weeks, and most assessed patients (80%+) proceed. SciMoTech may also address hip, foot/ankle, and some back considerations, and is recruiting patients with persistent pain after knee replacement. Results are based on an internal, 12-week IRB-approved clinical study and have not been published as peer-reviewed clinical research.   00:00 Season Eight Welcome 00:48 Meet Chris Raisley 01:32 Invisalign For The Knee 02:36 Inside The Foot Worn Device 05:09 How The Shoe Retrains Gait 05:53 Who Benefits Most 08:39 Beyond Knees Feet Hips Back 10:35 Safety And Balance Screening 12:52 Alzheimers Tip Break 14:04 Assessment And Gait Lab 15:48 Home Program Follow Ups 16:53 Cost Refund And Candidacy 18:31 Vs Orthotics And PT 20:21 Origins Research And Expansion 21:47 Patient Results And Why Gait Matters 25:20 After Knee Replacement Pain 26:50 How To Contact And Wrap Up 28:03 Supporters And Closing Credits New FAN MAIL features TXT & Voice Mial Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/support] Open Forum in The Villages, Florida is Produced & Directed by Mike Roth A new episode will be released most Fridays at 9 AM Direct all questions and comments to mike@rothvoice.com If you know a Villager who should appear on the show, please contact us at:  mike@rothvoice.com

Send us FAN MAIL text, include your cell# for a reply [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/fan_mail/new] Patricia Greenberg (“The Fitness Gourmet”) on Ageism, Aging Well, and Practical Nutrition for Seniors This Episode is available in both audio and video formats on Apple Podcasts and YouTube.   Mike Roth in Season 8 of Villages Vitality Life: Seniors Life Unscripted with guest Patricia Greenberg, the nationally recognized wellness educator known as “The Fitness Gourmet,” author of five books and host of the YouTube show It’s Okay to Be Old. Greenberg recounts her path from teaching nutrition and running a restaurant to completing 20 marathons, then confronting ageism as an older mother and shifting her work toward how people feel about aging. She discusses differences within the baby boomer cohort (including “Generation Jones”), and emphasizes that many older adults can do extraordinary things. They cover The Villages’ active lifestyle and injuries from pickleball and falls, then turn to nutrition: reducing ultra-processed foods, including protein at each meal, eating mostly plant-based without deprivation, and using a seven-day diet record for accuracy. Greenberg recommends moderate strength training, calming activities like yoga and nature walks, swimming for cardiovascular health, and concludes that longevity is tied to mindset, community connection, purpose, and social engagement.   00:00 Season Eight Welcome 00:40 Meet Fitness Gourmet 01:35 Her Aging Journey 08:01 Boomers And Ageism 09:16 Staying Active In Villages 10:55 Books And Break 11:38 Alzheimers Tip Segment 13:16 Show History And Diet 19:13 Weight Loss And Exercise 21:28 Swimming And Wrap Up 23:51 Longevity Mindset 25:50 Contact And Credits New FAN MAIL features TXT & Voice Mial Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/support] Open Forum in The Villages, Florida is Produced & Directed by Mike Roth A new episode will be released most Fridays at 9 AM Direct all questions and comments to mike@rothvoice.com If you know a Villager who should appear on the show, please contact us at:  mike@rothvoice.com

Melissa shares how early experiences and later learning made her more intentional with food, and how becoming fully vegetarian three years ago improved her skin, mood, and energy. She emphasizes reducing overwhelm by taking simple, realistic steps—adding more greens and color rather than aiming for perfection or eliminating favorites. Melissa explains microgreens and Leahi’s partnership with the Lady Lake farm Yummy Harvest, and suggests easy additions like microgreens, nuts (including walnuts), and papaya; she also describes tofu scramble/“egg” salad and other plant-based meal ideas. They discuss popular menu items such as the Thai Crunch and a beet pokey bowl, plus online ordering, app pickup, DoorDash delivery, and the Brazilian smoothie. 00:00 Season Eight Kickoff 00:41 Meet Melissa Guilloty 01:25 Why She Went Vegetarian 02:35 Food As Feedback 02:59 Simple Steps To Health 03:37 Nourish To Flourish 04:22 Raising Plant Based Kids 05:01 Green Papaya Pasta Hack 06:16 Cafe Tips And Drinks 07:59 Alzheimers Heart Risk Tip 09:36 Microgreens Explained 11:11 Yummy Harvest Partnership 12:04 Her Plant Based Background 13:12 Advice For Seniors 14:00 Nuts Papaya Eggplant Picks 15:53 Eggplant Pizza How To 16:13 Potato Pizza Crust 16:56 Barcelona Eggplant Tapas 18:28 Tofu Breakfast Swap 21:00 Tofu Taco Meat Dinner 21:58 Cafe Favorites Explained 23:22 Ordering App Delivery 26:00 Brazilian Smoothie Breakdown 26:39 Wrap Up And Credits New FAN MAIL features TXT & Voice Mial Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/support] Open Forum in The Villages, Florida is Produced & Directed by Mike Roth A new episode will be released most Fridays at 9 AM Direct all questions and comments to mike@rothvoice.com If you know a Villager who should appear on the show, please contact us at:  mike@rothvoice.com

Jim describes shock at diagnosis, explains that Parkinson’s may shorten lifespan slightly but complications often cause death, and credits twice-weekly Power for Parkinson’s classes with slowing progression through symptom-specific exercise, improving balance and energy, and boosting mood; he notes music helps movement. He advises newly diagnosed people not to hide the disease and to seek support. Roth also interviews lead instructor Lauren Lewis, recruited by co-founders Nina Moser and Susan Stahl, who now teaches only Parkinson’s-focused fitness. Dr. Steven Katz on Seniors and Smiles - audio

Send us FAN MAIL text, include your cell# for a reply [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/fan_mail/new] Senior Dental Health and Root Canals with Endodontist Dr. Steven Katz This podcast is available as an audio version only. Host Mike Roth opens Season 8 of Villages Vitality Life: Senior Life Unscripted and interviews Dr. Steven Katz, DDS, MS, an endodontist in private practice in Beachwood, Ohio, adjunct professor at West Virginia University, and immediate past President of the American Association of Endodontists. Katz explains how seniors’ oral health needs change with age due to narrowing root canals, reduced dexterity, and medication side effects like dry mouth or gum inflammation, and discusses how visit frequency depends on individual risk (often twice yearly, more with gum disease). He contrasts routine vs deep cleanings, emphasizes keeping natural teeth for function, health, and social confidence, and notes implants still require thorough maintenance and can fail. Katz advises daily brushing and flossing (typically once daily), using electric toothbrushes if needed, and seeking prompt care for sensitivity, swelling, or pain; he also discusses resorption, the oral-systemic health connection, modern one-visit pain-free root canals, typical cost ranges, and resources like aae.org and SaveYourTooth.com. 00:00 Season Eight Kickoff 00:41 Meet Dr Steven Katz 01:50 Seniors Teeth Changes 03:39 Dental Visit Frequency 04:43 Cleaning Versus Deep Cleaning 06:00 Why Keep Natural Teeth 07:32 Implants Reality Check 09:29 Medicare And Insurance 11:00 Alzheimers Tip Break 12:36 Daily Habits And Tools 15:38 Flossing Questions 17:08 Oral Health Body Health 19:02 Resorption Case Study 20:57 Evidence And Studies 22:44 Back To The Dentist 24:00 Root Canal Visits Costs 25:29 Contact Info And Wrap 26:09 Supporters And Signoff New FAN MAIL features TXT & Voice Mial Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/support] Open Forum in The Villages, Florida is Produced & Directed by Mike Roth A new episode will be released most Fridays at 9 AM Direct all questions and comments to mike@rothvoice.com If you know a Villager who should appear on the show, please contact us at:  mike@rothvoice.com  New FAN MAIL features TXT & Voice Mial Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1974255/support] Open Forum in The Villages, Florida is Produced & Directed by Mike Roth A new episode will be released most Fridays at 9 AM Direct all questions and comments to mike@rothvoice.com If you know a Villager who should appear on the show, please contact us at:  mike@rothvoice.com
