episode Ep 7: The Day Superman Died - George Reeves artwork

Ep 7: The Day Superman Died - George Reeves

On the morning of June 16, 1959, newspapers across the country ran the shocking headline "TV's Superman K*lls Self." George Reeves was the first person to don the red trunks in front of a camera, was dead. It would seem heavy are the shoulders that bear the red cape. George Reeves was growing too old to play Superman and was unable to get work outside of the role. He started to spiral, believing he would only ever be "Superman" and was doomed to languish in obscurity. Then, one night in June of 1959, George Reeves excused himself from a party in his own home and shot himself in his bedroom! LAPD declares the death a su*c*de at the scene, and the papers run headlines saying the same. Over the years, many of his close friends have come forward saying that Reeves was Murd*r*d! This time around, I took a look at the Evidence and interviews surrounding George Reeves' life and death. Diving deep into the night of his death, and laying out some of the conspiracy theories. Can we figure out the mystery of "Superman's" death? Is there even a mystery at all?

episode Ep6: The Death of Thomas Ince artwork

Ep6: The Death of Thomas Ince

Take a look back at a 100-year-old whodunit from the Silent Film era and explore the bizarre death of film pioneer Thomas Ince. Thomas Ince was the king of Western films, cranking out almost a thousand movies in just over a decade. When billionaire William Randolph Hearst came to Hollywood in 1924, the two began talks to lease land at Ince's studio. While in negotiations, Hearst invites Ince to celebrate his birthday aboard a yacht named The Oneida with some fellow film heavyweights. Following a lavish birthday meal, Thomas Ince suddenly falls ill and is taken off the yacht in the middle of the night. Three days later, Ince is dead, and the paper runs a headline announcing “MOVIE PRODUCER SHOT ON HEARST’S YACHT!” The official cause of death for Thomas Ince is heart failure, but only the other people on The Oneida know the truth, and they are sworn to secrecy by Hearst. We'll break down the official story, then factor in additional witness testimony that was overlooked at the time, to string together what really happened aboard The Oneida.

Ep 5: Maria Rasputin from Palace to Circus

(Important Names and Location Spellings at the bottom of the description) Join your host, Connor, the Paranormal Pixie, on a deep dive into the bizarre life of Maria Rasputin, one of history's coolest side characters! Maria Rasputin was the only child of the infamous Grigori Rasputin to escape Russia following her father's death. Within the span of a few years, Maria went from supporting herself and her children working as a nanny, to headlining at Ringling Brothers Circus as a LION TAMER! We'll take a look at Rasputin, how Maria remembers him, as we learn how his fate led to her career with the circus, and how she ended up buried in Los Angeles in Angelus-Rosedale cemetery! Notes, rough transcript, references, and images available on - Grigori Rasputin, a holy man and unofficial advisor to Tsar Nicholas II, is said to have been the shadowy figure twisting the minds of the Russian Royal family in the twilight of their reign. His brutal assassination at the hands of Prince Felix Yusupov in 1916 ended up being the first in a line of dominoes that led to the Bolshevik Revolution. By Grigori's side as he climbed the Russian social hierarchy was his daughter, Maria. And she has a very different view of her father than the Mad Monk history has remembered him as. Maria never stopped believing that he was a good man who wanted to help the Russian people and a dear friend to the Romanovs. She publishes memoirs of her time with Rasputin as direct responses to the tales told by Grigori's assassins. After her father's death, Maria chose to pack up and escape Russia with her newborn. As they bounced around Europe, to make ends meet, Maria began donning her father's moniker and performing in circuses! "Daughter of the Mad Monk, Whose Power in Russia Astounded the World!" Maria's skill? Beast taming! Working with every creature from horses to lions, she traveled Europe and America. Even surviving an animal attack! Fun Yussupov bio I mentioned! episode Ep 3: Fant4stic Failure artwork

Ep 3: Fant4stic Failure

Hello Everyone! Welcome to the PixieCast! For episode three, I'm trying something totally different! First, I recorded it as a video podcast! So, if you prefer to use YouTube or want to see my face (and the occasional cat), now you can! https://shorturl.at/Cmj58 [https://shorturl.at/Cmj58] Second, I'm covering a pop culture story instead of a paranormal one! During the Plague, I needed to take a mental break from spooky content, so I shifted my research skills to two of my other favorite things: comics and Hollywood scandals. I had a lot of fun exploring the world of superhero movies and the drama behind the scenes! So today, I'm sharing the tale of the last time Fantastic Four hit the Silver Screen. Fox Studio's Fant4stic (2015). This terrible, gritty reboot of the team started out with such promise. Directed by Josh Trank, a young director hot off another superpower movie, Chronicle (2012), starring Miles Teller, Micheal B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell. Fant4stic should have worked...but it didn't, and the film is considered one of the worst superhero movies ever made. So what happened? Well, let's take a look together! The behind-the-scenes drama is wild! The movie had six different writers, a wicked fan backlash to the casting, and may or may not have included an on-set fight! You can find my sources, relevant images, and my shooting script on my website, www.paranormalpixie.com [http://www.paranormalpixie.com] Instagram/Bluesky @ParanormalPixie
